There has always been a lot of mystery surrounding Quentin Tarantino's planned
Star Trek movie. When it was first announced, we heard it was being worked on concurrently with the now stagnant
Star Trek 4, but since then there has been a lack of news regarding the adaptation.
Currently, there are only a few things fans know for sure. If the project goes forward, it will be produced by J.J. Abrams (
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) and directed by Tarantino from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (
Overlord).
Speaking with Empire, Tarantino was asked for an update on the film, and its current stage in the development process. This is what he had to say:
There’s a script that exists for it now, I need to weigh in on it, but haven’t been able to do that yet.
It seems as though Tarantino has been too caught up to follow up on last year's story pitch, but it sounds like he will be shifting his focus to the film once his latest hits theaters. As for the MPAA rating, Tarantino himself has confirmed that the film, if made, will be Rated R.
Oh yeah! It’s an R-rated move. If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.
Do you think Tarantino's
Star Trek will actually get off the ground?
