STAR WARS EPISODE IX: Richard E. Grant Reveals Which Iconic Character He WON'T Be Playing

Logan star Richard E. Grant is expected to have a key role in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode IX next year but the actor has now debunked countless fan theories about who he'll be playing in the movie...

In the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, Grand Admiral Thrawn disappeared alongside Ezra Bridger and his fate has remained a mystery ever since. However, those of you expecting to see him make his live-action debut in Star Wars Episode IX next year might be disappointed because while Richard E. Grant may seem like the perfect choice to play the villain, he's confirmed that won't be happening.

During a recent interview, Grant was asked directly if he's been cast as Thrawn and responded: "I’m not playing the Star Wars character you just mentioned. I’m not allowed to tell you anything.
Otherwise I would be fired. It’s a complete lockdown on any information whatsoever." Honestly, that makes sense because this new trilogy has avoided digging up old characters for the most part.

For the time being, the identity of Grant's character remains a mystery but he would certainly suit a villain regardless of whether or not it's someone from the larger Star Wars Universe. There is, of course, a slim chance that the actor is playing Thrawn but that seems highly unlikely and he'll probably return in another animated series or novel somewhere down the line. What do you guys think?

I'm guessing someone like Benicio's character.

We all know he isn't playing Thrawn. Come on now.

Thrawn is DEAD

@BlackBeltJones - Filoni has come out an offically stated both Ezra and Thrawn survived the jump (and that saying something; look how long he played us wiht Ahsoka).

As to how they survived with no windows in the vacuum of space/hyperspace.

You can see Ezra appear to be using the force to hold in the air (all the tiny bits of glass floating) but you could get away with saying the Purgles but some sort of field to protect themselves so could place it around the ship.

@BlackBeltJones - so according to that, is Ezra dead as well

@StormXmen123 - I heard he confirmed they survived. Good luck to explaining how. I always took it as a sacrifice but Filoni's word is canon so...

@Vigor - Idk. I liked the ending a lot and Filoni has said they survived.

Idk how they possibly could have. But him saying that... I want to see both characters again.

@StormXmen123 - If Leia could survive the vacuum of space using the force in The Last Jedi then I believe your point to be valid.

No offence but he hasn't got the sex appeal for daddy Thrawn.

I would cats Fassbender in the role

Just get Lars Mikkelsen to do it. He did the voice of Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels, Thrawn's canon appearance is modeled after him, and he's a fantastic actor who would be perfect for the role.

I have no idea why people keep suggesting anyone else for the live action films, at this point. Same goes for Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett.

Can't forget his work as the legendary Dr. Xander Rice in Logan. God what a non-existent character in an otherwise great movie.

As is tradition for this new trilogy, I can say who he won't be playing...

Someone interesting. Just get this last one over with already.

I remember him from Logan of last year.

It'd be a nice surprise if he is with the good guys instead of with Hux and Kylo Ren.

...I just don't care anymore. This new trilogy is a step backwards. The Galaxy is still the same.

@MultiMedia996 - Exactly! That's always been my feeling. With all the talk of moving the story forward we got after TLJ the story feels very similar in setup.
