Artist Jason Palmer - who trained under the legendary Drew Struzan - will unveil a huge Star Wars mural at Celebration Chicago next month, and StarWars.com has shared a first look at the Original Trilogy section, which spotlights iconic moments and characters from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi.

Once complete, the 10-feet-tall, 88-feet-long mural will encompass every movie in the saga so far - including Episode IX - as well as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated series.

“The original idea came from [Lucasfilm President] Kathy Kennedy,” Lucasfilm Vice President and Executive Creative Director Doug Chiang tells StarWars.com. “She asked if we could create a piece of art that would encapsulate the entire Star Wars saga, visually representing the complete stories of Star Wars through art. In thinking about how to fulfill Kathy’s wish, the idea of creating a giant mural timeline was born.”

This will be the first time that fans can see the complete story of Star Wars represented in a continuous timeline, and the finished mural should be an incredible sight to behold.

Check out the first section below, and hopefully we'll get to see a little more of it before Celebration Chicago gets underway.

One of the only good ideas Kennedy's had.

Looks great so far. Interested to see the Clone Wars and Rebels sections. Don't know if they'll go with an animated look for them or blend it with the live action look of the rest of the mural.

Just a ploy to win back fans after shitting on the series episodes 7 and 8.

@MexCowboyNation - I get hating episode 8. That movie missed the mark and every opportunity to be something great. But episode 7 was fun. It was nostalgic. Yes it could have been slightly different but I get what they were trying to do with it.

I love the Originals... I wish the Special Edition and the other 8 movies hadn't come out. I suppose if they had lived up to "my" Star Wars expectations, I would've approved, but they didn't, and I don't.... I did love the THX remastered versions after wearing out my HBO recordings from the 80s...

Life would have been better without any prequels or KennedyVerse. :(

@pintoman - if there were no prequels we never would’ve had Sam Jackson in Star Wars, gotta take the good with the bad
