The Amazing First Trailer For THE DARK TOWER Starring Idris Elba Has LEAKED Online

The first trailer for The Dark Tower has found its way online much sooner than expected, and while it features some unfinished special effects, the big screen Stephen King adaptation looks downright epic...

The first footage from The Dark Tower is supposed to premiere at Entertainment Weekly's "Popfest" at the end of the month, but after the Taiwanese division of Sony Pictures uploaded an unfinished version of the international trailer for the movie to their channel, it's now doing the rounds across the web. To check it out while it's still available, a copy can be found by clicking here to head on over to WGTC.

Much of the trailer is devoted to Jake Chambers' journey from Earth to Mid-World, but there's a lot of great action featuring Idris Elba's Gunslinger as he takes on both The Man in Black's minions and some pretty terrifying looking monsters. Despite the fact that the movie is supposed to be a loose sequel to the books, there appears to be quite a few changes to the source material in this version of the story.

Roland Deschain hasn't changed too much though, especially as this trailer ends with the immortal line, "I do not aim with my hand, I aim with my eye. I do not kill with my gun, I kill with my heart." His rivalry with The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) also takes centre stage here, and while it looked like this movie might fly under the radar, it could be one of 2017's most exciting releases.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is currently set to be released on February 17th, next year.

I'm a fan of the books series but did not like it at all. And wtf with behind blue eyes playing?

Never read the books but looks pretty interesting.

As a reader of the novels, it looks okay. In my opinion, a tv show would be better. The story should be serialized maybe.

Idk, I think it's near impossible to do justice to the books.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Definetly, would've been great as an AMC/HBO/Netflix series where they could slowly expand on the numerous characters. Best way to tell most Stephen King novels imho!

Song choice aside, it looks really good.

@RorMachine - seems like all of these new trailers are accompanied by some slow sap rendition of old 60's-70's rock/folk songs. It's gonna get old fast

@RorMachine - Keep in mind that it's work in progress tho, maybe with final edit the song would be more fitting to the narrative they're going for.

@RorMachine - it actually fits perfect if you think about it. In the books Roland has piercing blue eyes, he has been called a bad man and is most definitely a sad man.

@RorMachine - Should've been "Hey Jude"
