Prometheus isn't doing nearly as well as i thought it would.
And The Avengers are still going strong which is good to see.

@DoubleD Even though it is near it's adjusted total there are still 3D ticket prices so TDK's attendance is slightly more. Though Avengers might be more attended in the end it won't be out of the water. Plus I'm going to say end of month until 600 million

How do you get lost in a spaceship if it's just a large circle?

Prometheus is a movie to be rented on dvd. I spent money seeing this film in Imax. I will never see another film in the theaters without seeing the reviews first.

Still don't get why people on this site get so hyped about how much these films make.

Counting the money on a daily basis as though they themselves are making a return on the film.

Brickwall, It varies from person to person, some more trivial and others for harmless curiosity as they're #'s for the very movies we follow on this site. What makes the #'s important is that they dictate the future of a franchise or even an entire genre. Prometheus is a case of the latter and its success could've revitalized true sci-fi, or so we all thought. Imagine if Avengers had failed. Whether you personally enjoyed it or not doesn't matter, but if it had failed to make money the entire MCU would collapse and all of its future potential. DC/WB are skittish enough and the success of Avengers has made a unified DCCU with a JL a very awesome and very real possibility. It's been speculated that MoS might be kicking that off and all this CBM success can only bolster their confidence in such a thing. Imagine if TDKR fails to make money(lol I know but play along), Marvel will dominate live action unchallenged with sporadic interruptions.
I may not be getting a slice of the profit, but I like to see that I will be getting more CBM's. Sorry if you can't appreciate at least that aspect of it.

"I love people always turn articles that have nothing to do with the avengers into talking about the avengers."

Did you read the article and article description? I suggest you do so again.

Avengers will become the all-time box office adjusted top grossing comic book hero film this week. :-)

Woah, even with Prometheus' okay reception, I'm shocked it didn't do better. I thought the Alien legacy would definitely bring it way higher.

Also, enough with the bashing of other films IN TERMS of box office records. In that case, Avatar is the best movie of all time.

All films have their advantages and disadvantages of reaching box office numbers.

I loved Prometheus. Most, if not all, of the complaints that I've read so far don't stack up. Some people want the movie to do all the thinking for them. And the second Avengers gif MadTian posted is f#cking hilarious!

@TheMyth lots of comic book movies have failed finacially and they have not harmed the possibilities of studios making further films.

Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Green Lantern, and both Ghost Rider films were all crap movies and flopped box office wise.

There are probably other comic book movies that also failed that I can't think of right now.

I'm more interested in watching good films than watching these studios get rich.

Batman Forever flopped? It was the #1 movie of 1995.

I think that word of mouth is definitely killing Prometheus. Several people that i work with waitto hear what I think of most sci-fi/comic book movies before they spend money on it.

And though I'd be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy myself in this film a little, the lasting effect it left was disappointment. I'd be hard pressed to recommend this movie to someone...
brickwall
brickwall - 6/17/2012, 11:25 AM
@Carrowsboy actually it was Toy Story.

$100 million budget, $300 million return obviously I am basing this in regards to the return we see for comic book movies today.

brickwall
brickwall - 6/17/2012, 11:28 AM
Plus 1989 Batman made a $100 million more.

Aside from damon lindelof being a primo doucher making nonsense of this damn movie. Ridley deserves better, on a side note... WHERES THAT AVENGERS DIRECTORS CUT? Re-releasing will guarantee, guarantee the number 2 spot. Maybe those blue bastards might finally be slain, by the almighty avengers!!
