Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok won't be the only film to shoot in Australia as it's now been revealed that Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island will head over in the area too!

A few days ago, it was announced by Chris Hemsworth and the Australian Government that the third installment in the Thor franchise (Thor: Ragnarok) will begin filming in Australia in the coming months! Along with that news, it was also revealed that Ridley Scott’s next “Alien” film (Alien: Paradise Lost (?)), will also film in Australia.

Australia clearly must be the hot spot because it was just revealed by Annastacia Palaszczuk (the current Premier of Queensland) that Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island will also film in the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast (in Australia). How much money will the film spend in this location? According to Palaszczuk, they will spend over A$15 million! That's just around the same range of money that Alien and Thor: Ragnarok spent to set up there as well.

Tracey Viera, the CEO of Screen Queensland, had this to say about the announcement. "Securing Kong, together with our growing international film production pipeline including Thor: Ragnarok announced only last week, The Nest 3D and The Shallows, highlights that our filmmaking capabilities, spectacular and diverse locations, internationally-renowned crew and world-class facilities act as major drawcards.” We'll keep you updated on any possible changes regarding this story! For now, share your thoughts on this news in the comment section below!

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and written by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly, “Skull Island” takes audiences into the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes, as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. The film will be distributed worldwide in 3D and IMAX 3D by Warner Bros. Pictures beginning March 2017.

UPDATE- Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has commented on the decision to shoot his new film in Australia: 'Well, when the studio told me we were making a film about a dangerous and mysterious land populated by savage and dangerous animals, I knew there was only one place we could go.'

@TheBritAvenger

Those aboriginals are pretty savage. At least, they aren't filming in NZ where the Maoris are at.
