Lego confirms Back to the Future set coming in 2013

This sounds pretty heavy, Doc.

The LEGO Cuusoo website had fans submitting ideas for Lego sets that they'd like to see Lego actually make. While ideas like "The Legend of Zelda" and "Minecraft" didn't get the necessary support from 10,000 people needed to become reality, MTV has news which Lego set IS slated to be released next year:

"Great Scott! LEGO has just revealed that the "Back to the Future" DeLorean concept submitted to LEGO Cuusoo is going into production for all for us to buy! That's right, the project received the necessary 10,000 supporters, and made it through the summer LEGO review process."

The site goes on to say that Lego figures of the DeLorean time machine's inventor Doc Emmett Brown and Marty McFly will likely be with the DeLorean concept and that a mid-2013 release date is planned. And since there were three "Back to the Future" films, maybe we can see a "Lego Back to the Future" video game, right?

Here's a picture of what the submitted concept set looks like (though it's the fan submitted photo and not likely what the final product will look like once it hits toy shelves):

What do you guys think of this news? Are you excited to buy a "Lego Back to the Future" set?

Pretty excited because I think I've got my first proper Lego set for X-Mas this year (I think it's a Lord of the Rings one) and I'm now extra excited because I want to get this one too. Better come with time circuits and plutonium.

I know they're only planning this one set but hopefully they'll expand the line and bring out at least the various versions of the DeLorean (the flying version with trash-power from Part II [and a hover board maybe], and maybe even the train from Part III)
