MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS 30th Anniversary Special Returning Cast Members Revealed

After a sneak preview at the beginning of this month, Hasbro has revealed the full roster of returning cast members for next year's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Reunion Special!

Hasbro has officially announced the cast of their upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Reunion Special and it's looking extra morphenomenal!

After previously reporting that the Special would finally bring original cast members David Yost (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger) and Walter Jones (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger) back to the series after two decades, it's now been revealed that they'll be joined by season two and season three cast members Steve Cardenas (Rocky DeSantos/Red Ranger 2), Karan Ashley (Aisha Campbell/Yellow Ranger 2), Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam Park/Black Ranger 2), and Catherine Sutherland (Katherine Hillard/Pink Ranger 2).

The Special will also introduce newcomer Charlie Kersh as Trini's daughter Min, which seemingly confirms rumors that the reunion would pay tribute to the late Thuy Trang (Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger), who left the show in 1995 before tragically passing away in a car accident in 2001. While plot details remain under wraps, reports have indicated the episode will center on Trini's daughter, as she presumably reunites her mother's former team and carries on their legacy.

It looks like Alpha 5 will also return.

While it would've certainly been nice to see more of Trang's former season one co-stars, it seems unlikely that Austin St. John (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger), Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger), and Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver/Green Ranger) will be involved in any capacity.

St. John is currently unable to leave the United States, due to his ongoing legal troubles. He was arrested in May for PPP-related wire fraud and, while he's since been released on bail, is still awaiting trial, which takes him off the table. Meanwhile, Johnson has repeatedly denied having any involvement with the Special, and Frank has previously declared his retirement from playing the team's legendary sixth ranger, so we can count those two out as well.

We'll remain cautiously optimistic about Hasbro possibly pulling off a few surprises, even though for the time being, it seems highly unlikely that we'll see the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunite on the small screen, but, hey, at least, we'll get the next best thing.

The currently filming 30th season is titled Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and will return the Dino Fury cast for their third year. It's been heavily rumored that the new season will bring the show's 30-year journey to a close, allowing the highly anticipated Netflix reboot, which will introduce a brand new team for both television and film, to start with a blank slate.

Morphinominal!

Still not the original team... i understand why, but it wont be a true reunion until the original 6 are back (obviously replacing Trini with her daughter).

This is pretty much Generation 2 of Mighty Morphin. The nostalgia only REALLY hits for when ALL the OGs assemble.

Too bad they couldnt get all 5 of the surviving original 6. (supposedly the girl is trini's daughter)

Although the season 3-zeo team plus never before returned year 1 rangers is cool. at least they got all the members of a mighty morphin team. although no no white.

Also with almost 30 years of no appearances, might as well fill in some of that time. maybe write walter jone's missing finger into the series

Whay are they doing this?
dracula
dracula - 10/27/2022, 11:07 PM
@Forthas - because it might possibly be the longest running scifi action show on tv. like really 30 years non stop.

thats longer than the original doctor who series, almost as long as the simpsons

why wouldnt they celebrate. also they get good money celling mighty morphin merchandise

@dracula - I don't know...I understand 50 years. Do they do this every 10 years?
dracula
dracula - 10/27/2022, 11:33 PM
@Forthas - they do try to have some kind of celebration

10th anniversary had Forever Red, that brought together 10 red rangers for 1 episode (still the best anniversary)

15th anniversary had 5 previous rangers (1 mighty morphin, 4 from the last 4 seasons) come back for 2 episides Once A Ranger (not good)

20th had the whole Megaforce series (terrible especially compared to the great sentai series)

25th had 1 episode Dimension In Danger, okay episode, different rangers from multiple seasons with small roles

This is the first time they managed to get a decent amount of the original cast together. Usually its just Red or Green and in one case black. Rarely together

@Forthas - yes they do. Pretty sure the 5's too, like 25th Year anniversary.

I didn't know Trini died. That sucks, but I'm glad some of them are coming back.

I haven't watched any Power Rangers pretty much since the original run, but it makes me really happy to see the heroes I loved growing up reunited (minus a few people of course)

Catherine Sutherland looks exactly the same. And how does “Tommy” do all those YouTube one-offs and then turns away the show that made him who he is today?

Anybody read the drama unfolding in the comments of Johnny Yong Bosch’s Facebook post regarding this?

Holy snap, it’s like a real life Stan music video

@GetsugaTensho22 - are you talking about the girl and “baring her soul”? If I were Johnny I’d be very uncomfortable

@Brand0n - that very one.
She blocked me too after I politely and gently tried telling her that she wasn’t making the situation and better for herself and that she should’ve kept it to her DM’s, so I don’t know if she ever added to the thread any further.

But that is genuinely disturbing to see unfold in real time, ya know? It definitely came off as the storyline to Stan.

Though it is sad that Amy Jo Johnson isn't returning (since Kimberley and Trini were best friends in the original series) I do appreciate getting representation of all 3 original seasons and that they were able to bring back Aisha. Since not only did she have one of the worst character write outs in Power Rangers history (honestly even more insulting then the "Peace confrence") but she was the one who inherited Trini's power so she could have a good scene talking to Trini's daughter about that. I also hope we find out in this special anniversary that Billy is gay and everyone being cool with it considering what happened to David Yost back in the day and how the show thankfully is now officially open about that.
