Sorry if this feels a bit redundant but not everyone was convinced that Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") was playing Khan Noonien Singh in
Star Trek Into Darkness. If you'll remember, in the beginning of February an
Entertainment Weekly webpage labeled an image, "Kirk & Khan." While the site said it made a mistake, I and many others didn't believe them. And now, a source for
Shockya.com is claiming that Cumberbatch is most certainly Khan and explains how and when the reveal takes place.
"Well moviegoers, through a trusted source, I can confirm that the Cumberbatch IS indeed playing Khan. He is called John Harrison at points in the film, but during a key scene where Harrison is held prisoner on the Enterprise, he does reveal to Kirk and crew that his true identity is Khan. In addition, the film takes another cue from Wrath Of Khan and alludes to the famous reactor scene, but puts a reverse spin on it." - Shockya.com
Khan Noonien Singh is a fictional villain in the American Star Trek science fiction franchise, portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán. The character first appeared in "Space Seed" (1967), a first season episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, and reappeared as the antagonist in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
According to the backstory provided in "Space Seed", Khan is a genetically engineered superhuman from India who once controlled more than a quarter of the Earth during the Eugenics Wars of the 1990s. After being revived from suspended animation in 2267 by the crew of the USS Enterprise, Khan attempts to capture the starship, but is thwarted by James T. Kirk and exiled on Ceti Alpha V to create a new society with his people. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, set fifteen years after "Space Seed," Khan escapes his exile and sets out to seek revenge upon Kirk. - wikipedia
