Sorry if this feels a bit redundant but not everyone was convinced that Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") was playing Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek Into Darkness. If you'll remember, in the beginning of February an Entertainment Weekly webpage labeled an image, "Kirk & Khan." While the site said it made a mistake, I and many others didn't believe them. And now, a source for Shockya.com is claiming that Cumberbatch is most certainly Khan and explains how and when the reveal takes place.

"Well moviegoers, through a trusted source, I can confirm that the Cumberbatch IS indeed playing Khan. He is called John Harrison at points in the film, but during a key scene where Harrison is held prisoner on the Enterprise, he does reveal to Kirk and crew that his true identity is Khan. In addition, the film takes another cue from Wrath Of Khan and alludes to the famous reactor scene, but puts a reverse spin on it." - Shockya.com

Khan Noonien Singh is a fictional villain in the American Star Trek science fiction franchise, portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán. The character first appeared in "Space Seed" (1967), a first season episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, and reappeared as the antagonist in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

According to the backstory provided in "Space Seed", Khan is a genetically engineered superhuman from India who once controlled more than a quarter of the Earth during the Eugenics Wars of the 1990s. After being revived from suspended animation in 2267 by the crew of the USS Enterprise, Khan attempts to capture the starship, but is thwarted by James T. Kirk and exiled on Ceti Alpha V to create a new society with his people. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, set fifteen years after "Space Seed," Khan escapes his exile and sets out to seek revenge upon Kirk. - wikipedia

Lol its always been obvious. Cumberbatch is the perfect actor to play a sort of shakespearean style villain that Khan was portrayed as by Montalban, an actor good with words and theatrical in tone and, also an intelligent match for Kirk. I've never had doubts it wasn't Khan.

I refuse to believe that Abrams cast Cumberbatch as Kahn when he couldve casted an Indian actor easily.

And before I get hit with the technicality of Indians are Caucasian, Indians are considered Caucasian because Northern Indians migrated from the Caucus Mountains in the middle east. It doesn't mean they're Caucasian ...as in white, most Indians are more closely related to Aussie Aboriginals.

Benedict Cumberbatch, as much as I love him as an actor, couldn't pass for Indian if he tried.

Wait what he's playing Khan no [frick]ing way he's playing Bob the [frick]ing builder. Its so [frick]ing obvious!

Seriously though does it really matter what the characters name is or isn't long as he's a good villain who gives shit (well apparently I'm the only one who doesn't care)

I just rewatched the trailer. I think if Cumberbatch is playing Khan than it is not the same Khan as TOS. "John Harrison" is an obvious code name. (Dr. Who goes by John Smith) The character might be a genetically engineer human like Khan but it is obvious that Abrams is going a different avenue with the concept. This is clearly a completely different timeline.

Besides, the whole "John Harrison" think is purely a cover name anyway. How many flims, like the Star Wars sequels, had false titles to protect the film. It is the same concept here only with a character names.

@Alaba no he was Mexican but in those day's all you had to do was tan an actor and they were considered to be arabs or indians or pretty much any other race.

"I'm better than you"

From that quote he was either an android or superhuman. But Khan!!?? Should have stuck with John Harrison.

Ok, I'll wait until I see the movie. He can be Khan or Gary Mitchell, as long as he is a great villain and can make us love to hate him.
