Nine Minutes Of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS To Be Shown In 3D On IMAX Screens This December

It has just been revealed that the first nine minutes of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness will be previewed on IMAX screens from December 14th onwards (in 3D of course). Hit the jump for further details!

Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures are planning to release the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness on 500 IMAX 3D screens from December 14th onwards. There's currently no word on whether this is a US exclusive. Judging from the date, common sense says that the footage will be shown in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. "Our longtime partners J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team have really hit it out of the park – the footage is absolutely incredible," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "Their use of the IMAX Camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trek fans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster." Similar to The Dark Knight Rises, several scenes in the J.J. Abrams helmed sequel were shot in the IMAX format.
