Trekkie girls interview Cumberbatch about his Star Trek into Darkness role!

At the Star Trek into Darkness London IMAX premier, trekkie girls were able to score a few good interviews. One in particular with Benedict Cumberbatch as they further discuss the Khan rumors. Thanks to Trekmovie for the update! Follow the jump for details!

For those still clinging to hope that Benedict Cumberbatch could still be Khan, this may not be the article for you. Trekkie girls scored an interview with Mr. Cumberbatch and at one point during the interview, they asked about "John Harrison" and asked if he's an already established character from the original series and Benedict's response?

"We're establishing him in this"

Yep you heard that right, as in- he's going to be a character they made up for this movie.

When further pressed with questions on how he felt about the Khan rumors, Benedict simply stated that he felt the rumors and speculation were good fun. He also went on again describing his character as not being your typical "cookie-cutter villain" and how he's really a 3 dimensional character who believes in what he's doing.

When asked to give a collective "Khaaan" shout out, Benedict simply said

"No, I leave that for the history books, leave that for William Shatner and that...particular film"

Below is the video for you CBMers to dissect. But I think it is safe to say that like Nero from the last film, John Harrison will be a brand new creation to terrorize the Enterprise crew.

I actually think it must be tiring for Benedict to continue fielding Khan questions. I say- let the man be his own character! He shouldn't have to step into the shadow of Ricardo Montalban.

How can it be a new character, when Abrams said he would be recognizable to fans?

I'd let them have a bit of a tickle.
"John Harrison"?! Sure. Like "John Blake". Ha. And we all know how that turned out. Heh.

@Luminous- When trekmovie asked Bob Orci about the possibility of this being a brand new character when he had JUST previously stated the character was "canon" Orci replied that he "lied once"
