Since Disney’s launch of their “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” series, fans have been treated to canon novels, a comic series, Topps trading cards, and some reference books.  These things have been produced to help The Last Jedi gain even more positive momentum and excitement.  The novel Phasma helped us to better understand a character many deemed underutilized in The Force Awakens.  The young adult novel Leia, Princess of Alderaan, gave us insight on the planet Crait and the character Amilyn Holdo.  Another book is soon to be released (as soon as December 5th) while we wait for the movie.

Unlike the Leia or Phasma novels, the book isn’t focused on one singular person’s story, but instead a specific place.  The book is titled Canto Bight, and is a collection of four interconnecting novellas, each one of them by a different author.  This casino city is bound to have many rich and glamorous aliens, and this book will give us a closer look at four of them.

This month Disney released an excerpt from the upcoming book.  It is from a portion by author John Jackson Miller titled: “The Ride”.  We know that the Star Wars universe has games such as sabacc and dejarik, but here we get to see one called Zimbiddle.  The brief excerpt has a colorful cast of characters, and peaks my interest into the interconnecting theme between these stories.  Hopefully Canto Bight will prove to be a unique location, unlike anything we have seen in Star Wars before.
