Star Wars: The Force Awakens managed to make a little over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, and while it's quickly become apparent that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will come nowhere near that figure, it has now passed the $1 billion mark. It managed to reach that figure yesterday, while animated feature Moana - which stars Black Adam's Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - has reached $500 million.
It took 39 days for Rogue One to hit that milestone, and is the 13th Disney movie to do so (and the fourth to be released in 2016). $512.2 million came from North America, while $499.1 million hailed from overseas. As of right now, it's the #4 movie of 2016 and only the seventh in history to earn more than $100 million on IMAX screens. That's an impressive feat and a huge win for Disney and Lucasfilm.
All those reports of reshoots and behind the scenes troubles didn't hurt the movie at the box office, and this is a good start for the studio's Anthology movies. How many times did you watch Rogue One?
