The following vid contains nearly half an hour of a documentary Michael Parbot made on The Empire Strikes Back. Fans may recognize some of the footage as being better quality excerpts from a version released back in 2007, but there is plenty of new stuff too - including interviews with the cast and crew, and awesome behind-the-scenes shots.



I just want to watch the movie again now. If the new Star Wars films turn out even half as great as Empire I'll be a happy man.

I wonder what there reaction was when Lucas told them that Luke and Leia were siblings I hope it was the same as mine it involved a lot of puking.

Classic movie. Never gets old. Attack of the Clones is still my favorite Star Wars movie, though.

Its amusing to see that video and know more about what was going on with the cast back then than people watching wouldve known back in 1981.
Carrie Fisher was banging Spielberg, Ford and maybe Lucas and Hamill back in the day. Which probably has something to do with her being on the freezing set hours at a time for shots like the Tauntaun scenes with Ford when she wasnt even in them.

It's always funny to watch Harrison Ford in interviews, because no matter how young he is, he always sounds like a old, tired curmudgeon who absolutely DOES NOT want to be there.

BTW, this is some great stuff. Empire was the best Star Wars movie, without a doubt.

@TheFox I think at the same time he was trying to act like Star Wars was silly and beneath him and that it would almost crack him up to talk about it.
In his old Today Show and other interviews you kinda see that attitude.
But if he did, maybe he thought Empire was going to be as bad as The Holiday Special. He had to be pretty embarrassed by that stuff around the time this was shot.

Ok, Empire is legitimately one of the best movies ever made. Also, has anybody else noticed how George Lucas isn't in this? I'm 20 minutes in and not once has he shown up. Which is giving credence to me that while GL likes to claim Empire, it was totally Irvin Kirshner's film.

Exactly, and I was watching Empire of Dreams and Lucas says he was so involved and that he probably should have just Directed Jedi himself. And ofcourse Jedi, while awesome, was a step backward.

This is so great, hearing the director talk about real sets, and limited sci fi mumbo jumbo made me sad (again) for the prequels.

@OhThePurdue Episode II is your favorite Star Wars movie? I think that's the first time I've ever heard a Star Wars fan say that.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, but I got bored watching AOTC. I consider it the worst movie in the series. Well, to each his own.

It's taken a little while, but I've gotten past seeing the prequels as nothing more than a steaming pile of horse manure. 1 - 3 each have some really amazing and well done parts (mitigated, sadly, by a whole lot of just bad) and viewing the entire series (so far) as a whole definitely helps with perspective.
Empire, though, will always be my absolute favorite by a wide margin.
