TRON: Legacy Director Joseph Kosinski Talks TRON 3 Plot

Director Joseph Kosinski talks about the status of the next sequel TRON 3. Hear what he had to say after the jump

In an interview with Assignment X, Kosinski said:

“Once we get a script we’re all really happy with, we’ll take it to the powers that be and see if we can go back to the grid,”

He continued:

I think we will pick with where TRON: LEGACY left off with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It’s that relationship between the two of them that’s the next step.

He also agreed that the son of Dillinger, played by Cillian Murphy, would have to play a big role:

Dillinger was a really important part of the first film and felt like an easy way to continue that storyline and thread to have his son in the new movie. That way you have people ask those questions of what the Dillinger legacy is in the world of TRON. We didn’t want to ignore it completely and it leaves a really nice springboard for some intertwining development for the next film.

From what we saw in the footage and what he said, it seems as if were hardly gonna have anytime in the computer in Tron 3. Who cares about it taking place in the real world?

It might be cool if some how tron stuff made it into the real world,like the bikes etc
Wouldnt be much good if they just stayed in the real world with no tron stuff at all

Still need to watch Tron: Legacy...I guess i'll have to spend the $5 and rent it off xbox marketplace.

I bought the soundtrack cause Daft Punk did it, so even if the movie blows at least i'll hear great music throughout.

It's a great movie, just wish Torn had a bigger part in it.

@DanielGrimaldi
Tron was in the entire movie, we just didn't know he was Tron until the end. No offense, but fail lol

I would usually jump for joy like a school girl for this kind of news, but I must admit that these quotes do not bode well for the sequel.

A lot of the younger crowd, lured by the Disney logo, thought that Tron Legacy was uber boring to the captial degree. I loved the movie though :)
As long as the sequel DOES NOT turn out like an epilogue in the real world, it will be good.

@Grif -- Damn bro you're hard to please lol

WHAT ID LIKE TO SEE-->
THE RECREATION OF THE TRON WORLD. YOU KNOW IDLIKE TO SEE THE USERS BE ABLE TO ENTER AND HAVE MORE CAPABILITIES IN THE TRON WORLD, NOT SUBJECT TO THE TRON WORLD RULES, MUCH LIKE THE MATRIX CAN BEND RULES AND REALITY IN THE DIGITAL PLANE, ID LIKE TO SEE MORE CONTROL, IF YOUR A USER YOU SHOULD HAVE WAY MORE POWER THAN JUST BEING GROUNDED IN HUMAN LEVEL IF TRANSPORTED TO THE DIGITAL PLANE. WHAT I WANNA SEE IS CILLIAN'S CHARACTER, AND FLYNN'S SON DO BATTLE IN THE TRON WORLD, LIKE A BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY

I loved Legacy. There's a lot of potential for a third film given how Rinzler/Tron was left as a cliffhanger and with a potential new villain with the same abilities as Flynn.
