Details On Superman's Scrapped Cameo Appearance In SHAZAM! Reportedly Revealed

We learned yesterday that scheduling conflicts resulted in Henry Cavill having to turn down a cameo as Superman in Shazam! and now some details have been revealed about what that would have entailed...

There have been rumours for a while now that Superman might make an appearance in Shazam! to bring Billy Batson into the wider DC Extended Universe and that was confirmed yesterday when we learned that Henry Cavill turned down a role in the movie (and ultimately walked away from playing the Man of Steel). What would that cameo have entailed? Well, some details have now been revealed.

According to The Wrap's Umberto Gonzales, "the Superman cameo in Shazam! was supposed to be Clark at the end of the movie meeting with Billy Batson, the kid who [turns into] Shazam, telling him ‘Hey, we’re gonna keep an eye on you,’ that kind of thing." That would have been very cool to see and a nice way to set up Superman either appearing in Black Adam or Shazam joining the Justice League.

Unfortunately, the chances of that happening now appear to be somewhere between slim and none. While it's possible that Cavill's departure from the
DCEU could be a very public negotiating tactic, he appears to be done with the character for now and both that and him not appearing in Shazam! has come as a blow to fans. What do you think about this scrapped cameo? Share your thoughts below.

Hopefully Henry Cavill will be back and seeing Superman fighting alongside Shazam would be great.

We got a Cap cameo in Thor 2 and it wasn't even technically him! He came in to be Loki pretending to be him! Come oooon they can get him.

The whole Justice League debacle could of damaged his career, why would he choose to go into another film with no confidence in the studio. He has been a great Superman and MOS is one of my favourite films if he leaves I'm okay with it and wish him well. If he stayed on it would be amazing also. He deserved better.

@ScRipt69 - "The whole Justice League debacle could of damaged his career, why would he choose to go into another film with no confidence in the studio."

For the same reason Zack Snyder is still executive producing "Aquaman" and producing "Wonder Woman 1984". Love of the universe and, in Henry's case, love of the character. Both of them have taken so much abuse, but they keep at it, because they care. Same can't be said for Warner Bros. especially after firing him.

That would have been cool but if that’s all it was then I have a hard time buying “scheduling conflicts” as the reason it didn’t happen. That could be filmed next Tuesday afternoon ten minutes from Cavill’s house if they wanted.

When will they finally give Cavill his due? He’s gotten screwed over by WB and Snyder so much I’m surprised he can still put up with their shit and want to stay on board. I mean the last movie he appeared in they [frick]ed his literal face.

A simple cameo for a simple lighthearted movie. It would’ve worked.

I thought this was the only concrete thing out of the WB/Cavill stuff going on. Too bad tho
