When is a spoiler not a spoiler? When the movie in question's marketing team ruins the surprise!
Even so, just in case you somehow managed to avoid finding out which DCEU character shows up for a cameo, beware of major spoilers from this point on.
In an obvious attempt to put more butts in seats this weekend, a recent TV spot for Shazam! Fury of the Gods featured Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman walking away from the Shazam Family.
To be fair, Diana's involvement was previously rumoured, and tie-in merchandise had already let the cat out of the bag, but anyone who avoids going online for the sole purpose of bypassing spoilers wouldn't have been able to avoid this if they happened to be sitting down to watch TV over the past week or so.
Extra TV asked star Zachary Levi about Gadot's appearance in the sequel on the red carpet of the recent LA premiere,
“Spoiler alert! I’ve loved how basically all the comic book characters guest star in each other’s comic books, and it connected the whole universe. The fact that Gal was down to do a little bit with us in the film and connect all that was really lovely.”
Will Fury of the Gods connect to the DCU, though? The mid-credits scene certainly suggests that we will see Levi's take on the hero again, but that was filmed before James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the new slate.
Chances are, if this movie performs well at the box office, the decision will be made to keep the franchise canon. Projections are not so great, however!
