Travelling back a few years ago, when the news of the Fantastic Four sequel movie was as hot as Human Torch, Fox was whipping up a planned spin-off from the Fantastic Four new co-star - The Silver Surfer! Who better to bring the spacefaring superhero on screen other than the one who has done space operas before in Babylon 5, and a comic scribe as well - J. Michael Straczynski.
So in an interview with Collider here is what Straczynski has to say about the current state of things on the Surfer movie.
"What happened was when FF2 didn’t do as well as they hoped it would do, it caused them to call into question a Silver Surfer movie," Straczynski said. "The script that I wrote picked up right where FF2 left off. So if they do a Silver Surfer film down the road, it’ll have to be its own separate [thing]."
Asked about the tone of the film, if it's the same as the light tone of the FF adventure, this is what he has to say.
"It was definitely adult fare. I wanted to tell the origin of the Surfer and get into that whole thing," he said.
So there you have it folks no Shining "Oscar-like" statuette surfing the sky's in our near future. Though there are talks thatFox is rebooting the 'Fantastic Four'.
Honestly, it's really difficult to get excited about a Fox movie.
