L'Heureux confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to 'Sin City,' 'Sin City 2' (though that may not be the title) will be going into production in the second half of next year. But big news is, unlike the first comic book film, which used the graphic novels page by page as both screenplay and story boards, the sequel will be very different and this time it will be based on an original script by Miller instead. Don't know what the fans will make of that one?
Though the producer L'Heureux said 'Hard Boiled' is still in the early stages as yet, Miller is hard at work with the screenplay which is based on his own comic book series from Dark Horse comics from the very early 90s. Miller will direct this feature on his own.
The Dark Horse comic is ultra-violent an is about a troubled tax collector called Nixon who realizes that his life is nothing like what it seems and he is a man of metal, like some kind of robot doing the bidding of a dark organization. The detailed artwork of co-creator Geoff Darrow was printed in an oversize format to accommodate the intricately of the deep comic.
L'Heureux says "We're still developing it. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank. It's such a pleasure to work with someone like Frank Miller. He's so smart and passionate about story at all levels from 1940s noir pulp to modern film,"
The producer also said fans can expect to see the movie when Miller's got the scheduling time to do it.
"With 'Sin City' just on the horizon I don't think we'd be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as 'Sin City' seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long," L'Heureux told us. "We have to space it for Frank. There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'."
Frank Miller again will co-direct with Robert Rodriguez on 'Sin City 2' like last time.
Many thanks to the guys at Mania.com for the interesting interview.
LEEE777 - Well, 'Hard Boiled' sounds a great comic property to turn into a movie, so i'm all for that, plus who at CBM cant wait for the 'Sin City' sequel? I for one cant, and hey lets hope he gets involved with the Daredevil reboot, it would only make that one sweeter, but i think thats just a fan boy dreaming lol! ; )
