Updates on Frank Miller's Hard Boiled and Sin City 2

Producer Stephen L'Heureux gives up some scoops on comic book adaptations of Hard Boiled and Sin City 2.

L'Heureux confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to 'Sin City,' 'Sin City 2' (though that may not be the title) will be going into production in the second half of next year. But big news is, unlike the first comic book film, which used the graphic novels page by page as both screenplay and story boards, the sequel will be very different and this time it will be based on an original script by Miller instead. Don't know what the fans will make of that one?

Though the producer L'Heureux said 'Hard Boiled' is still in the early stages as yet, Miller is hard at work with the screenplay which is based on his own comic book series from Dark Horse comics from the very early 90s. Miller will direct this feature on his own.

The Dark Horse comic is ultra-violent an is about a troubled tax collector called Nixon who realizes that his life is nothing like what it seems and he is a man of metal, like some kind of robot doing the bidding of a dark organization. The detailed artwork of co-creator Geoff Darrow was printed in an oversize format to accommodate the intricately of the deep comic.

L'Heureux says "We're still developing it. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank. It's such a pleasure to work with someone like Frank Miller. He's so smart and passionate about story at all levels from 1940s noir pulp to modern film,"

The producer also said fans can expect to see the movie when Miller's got the scheduling time to do it.

"With 'Sin City' just on the horizon I don't think we'd be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as 'Sin City' seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long," L'Heureux told us. "We have to space it for Frank. There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'."

Frank Miller again will co-direct with Robert Rodriguez on 'Sin City 2' like last time.

Many thanks to the guys at Mania.com for the interesting interview.

LEEE777 - Well, 'Hard Boiled' sounds a great comic property to turn into a movie, so i'm all for that, plus who at CBM cant wait for the 'Sin City' sequel? I for one cant, and hey lets hope he gets involved with the Daredevil reboot, it would only make that one sweeter, but i think thats just a fan boy dreaming lol! ; )

BmanHall-- Of all the joking around with Cage in this Cage in that. I think he would be pretty good for Hard Boiled. He looks like tax collector.

I was wondering how they were going to do Sin City 2 because there isn't a sequel in the comics, I think? And "A Dame to Kill For" is before Sin City (not sure) and not very good. Marve is more of a dumbass in that one.

Why would Frank move AWAY from the original Sin City format? I think it worked very well and was very unique to take the tone and panels from the original comic stories (like nothing we've seen before as comic book fans). He'd have to do something really spectacular (not falling in line with typical Hollywood CBMs) to convince me that is a good idea.

Really anxious to see a sequel to sin city. Glad that Robert Rodriguez is doing R-rated films again. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with the spy kids films, but Movies like Machete, and Planet Terror, are what make Robert. And I don't much like the idea of miller working too thoroughly on sin city 2. The spirit kinda drowned my faith of Frank Miller's involvement in film

Can't wait. The first Sin City was badass, and anything by Frank Miller gets my jellies off (whatever that may mean).

frank miller, in my opinion, poisoned his genius when he experienced the rebirth of his hollywood ambitions that died on the bloody streets patrolled by robocop and were scooped up and brushed off after the success of 'sin city.' miller belongs behind a pen, not a camera...that is where he does his work. i offer the accidental disaster film 'the spirit' as definitive evidence. how could miller, a longtime extremist activist about comic books being raped, looted and wasted by unfaithful film adaptations, possibly rape, loot and waste the source material from the original 'the spirit' series on such a crummy, meaninglessly mean-spirited movie that mined every bored cliche from three genres (film noir, exploitation and true crime)?

frank is betraying his own life's work and ethics. i don't understand why...but the how is pretty obvious. writing comics specifically for the screen or to be turned into film as he is doing with this poorly thought-up '300' sequel/prequel holds him back from doing his best work, which, incidentally, requires the features and opportunities unique to the form of the comic book and/or graphic novel. these features were what made 'sin city' so much fun as it was translated to film.

Right...
First, why is MATTHEW (THE FLASH) FOX GUARDIAN?? Oh hell i can see him as GUARDIAN too nice pick!

I do like this casting and i'd love to see a ALPHA FLIGHT movie, though has FOX got the rights to this? Even though they shouldn't have them as its not really X-MEN as such, anyway i like your picks though obviously MORENA for MARRINA i would have an issue with lol, coz i cast her as WASP.

PUCKS perfect ive seen that guy cast for him before somewhere, kudos for that.

Dont know who that KATIE Chic is so cant comment on her, though she looks the part!

Didn't you cast that MONROE as a INVADER? I'll check that out in a min lol, but yeah shes a sweet SNOWBIRD dude!!

We'll hi 5 for QUINTO a billion times better for NORTHSTAR than NAMOR dude!! QUINTO could bite his teeth into a role like that big time! Someone said WELLING but this picks even better!

Not sure on SHAMAN that guy makes everything he's in a comedy, though it could work bro!?

BILLY, great pick!!

Hey this was my pick for MARRINA! ASHLEY SCOTT born for the role! What ya think? Though i like yours too of course, just got her for WASP thats all!! ; D
