SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Concept Art Features New Takes On Green Goblin, Scorpion, And Much More
In this new round of concept art from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, we see alternate designs for Green Goblin, Scorpion, Peter Parker's Spider-Bunker, and Spider-Gwent. Check it out after the jump...
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is now in theaters and if you've seen the movie, you'll no doubt understand why everyone is raving about it and why it's already the favourite to win an Oscar.
Now, some concept art from the critically acclaimed animated adventure has found its way online and this batch puts the spotlight on designs for characters like Green Goblin, Scorpion, Spider-Ham, Spider-Gwen, SP//DR, and even Peter Parker's Spider-Bunker and the trophies/vehicles inside it!
It shouldn't surprise you that for such a visually unique movie, the artwork used to come up with these characters is every bit as amazing...and spectacular! There are some great pieces here and The Prowler, in particular, really stands out from the crowd.
So, to take a look, all you have to do is click on the "View List" button down below!
Spider-Bunker
These are some of the trophies which were on Spider-Man's wall in his bunker and, as you can see, he's clearly crossed paths with villains like Shocker, Chameleon, and The Enforcers before now.
Yes, it's the Spider-Mobile! Interestingly, it seems as if Peter also had a motorbike and that would have definitely been fun to see on screen as it would make for such an unusual piece of imagery.
Green Goblin
Are we ever going to get a classic version of the Green Goblin on the big screen? I appreciate that it's hard to pull off but I'm really not a huge fan of a monstrous take on the iconic villain.
Regardless of his appearance in Into the Spider-Verse, it was very cool seeing Spider-Man battle this huge Green Goblin and their fight had some real stakes which set up Miles' origin story.
Another monstrous take on the Green Goblin here, I'm intrigued by the one of him wearing a suit of armour as it seems to be a cross between the Ultimate version and the one from Spider-Man.
These pieces of artwork provide some insight into how Spider-Gwen was brought to the big screen and it's clear to see that Sony based the hero's movements on those of a ballerina/dancer.
Spider-Ham
Spider-Ham was an undeniable highlight in Into the Spider-Verse and this artwork shows the work which went into bringing this cartoon character to life in Miles Morales' human world.
I really didn't like the design for Scorpion that we got in the movie and so it's interesting to see that Sony briefly considered versions which were a little more faithful to the comic books.
Peni Parker has emerged as a clear fan-favourite from Into the Spider-Verse and many fans would love to see her get her own anime-style spinoff movie. With any luck, she'll return in the sequel.
Spider-Man
A very unique shot of Spider-Man, I'm not sure what's supposed to be happening here but the animated style is very unique and may be what Sony Pictures originally had planned for the film.
This is the costume which Miles Morales buys when he first decides to become Spider-Man and I can't help but feel that Marvel has missed a trick not releasing this as some sort of replica!
