A little earlier, we told you that Disney and Marvel Studios have reached an agreement with Sony Pictures that will see
Spider-Man remain part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for his third film. Now, it's been confirmed in the press release announcing the news that,
"As part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in a future Marvel Studios film."
Looking over the Phase 4 slate, it's impossible to say what that might be, especially as there's not currently another
Avengers movie on the horizon (at least not that we know of). However, with rumours swirling that
Fantastic Four is eyeing a 2022 release, it would certainly be fitting for Spidey to appear there given their many connections in the comic books.
In related news, longtime
Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has also weighed in on the arrangement.
"This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes," she says.
"This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue."
Needless to say, it's an exciting time to be a Spider-Man fan, and with hints from Kevin Feige that the hero will appear in both the MCU and Sony's Spider-Verse, it sounds like Tom Holland is going to be very busy indeed over the next few years.
