My favorite Spider-Man casting choice so far has been Willem Dafoe as the legendary Norman Osborn. With the exception of the infamous 'Power Ranger' suit, I think his portrayal was spot on. His role in the original
Spider-Man definitely helped solidify director Sam Raimi's standing in the eyes of fans.
With the current production issues surrounding
Spider-Man 4, could the return of the Green Goblin benefit the project? Mr. Dafoe thinks there's definitely room for his character to come back into the web head life:
"It all depends on the story," he said of the likelihood we'll see him again.
"The Green Goblin. . there's plenty more to do, because that's not so well defined. And the Norman Osborn character is a good, solid, half-comic, half-dramatic character, so I could always revisit that."
He went on to say,
"I like Sam Raimi. I read today that it might get pushed a little bit because they're fighting about screenplay issues, but who knows, who knows..."
I've been spreading around my ideas for a Green Goblin return for a few months now. Though the majority of CBM users hope for a Lizard/Kraven/Spidey trifecta, I believe that the green meanie is exactly the villain that
Spider-Man 4 needs to tie up loose ends and begin a new trilogy. . . as long as they get the costume right this time.
What do you guys think?
*I didn't include the obvious fan favorite Lizard/Kraven option because. . . well. . it's pretty obvious that's what most fans want.
