We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on May 2, 2014!

I'm hearing the movie is the best Spider-man movie in one corner and on the other I'm hearing it's one if the worst superhero movies ever. It's man of steel all over again except I'm in the opinion that is an exceptional movie. I'll go see the new spider-man and judge which corner I lay in.

I just saw the movie and I have to say I really liked it! Yes it has flaws and isn't the film it was hyped up to be but I personally think it was a solid 4/5.

It was somewhat dealable. The fight scenes with Electro and Goblin was cool, but it just felt a bit too uneven as far as themes and pacing, and the story was very convoluted with one too many subplots trying to carry the film with some feeling rushed. You had the Richard Parker/Oscorp conspiracy, then you had the Gwen/Peter dynamic which took up most of the film, then you had the whole Harry dying thing, and then Electro obsession with Spidey. I was just like AH! And to be honest, the way Electro was portrayed, he could've been left out of the movie entirely, and Rhino was forgettable and not needed at all.

When you can make a character like Electro sympathetic and interesting, you've already achieved something remarkable in my opinion, and that's exactly what they did with TASM 2. A surprisingly good character.

Anyone comparing this to Spider-Man 3 has absolutely no grounds to, except for the fact that there's 3 villains - although TASM 2 actually uses them all in a cohesive story-line, rather than using them to create a bunch of unrelated sub-plots like Spider-Man 3 did.

Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Is it the best CBM ever? Nope. Is it the best Spider-Man movie? Debatable, but I'm one of those who thinks it's right up there though.

@maninfinehat don't let that put you off - for one thing, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. You've got to understand that in this movie (and this is made abundantly clear on screen) Max is probably one of the saddest people living in New York; everyone uses him, treats him like crap, steals credit for his work, and then forgets him. Spider-Man saves his life and gives him a really quick pep-talk on how he's "not a nobody", and Max becomes obsessed, because for the first time in his life someone actually gave a crap about him. The "it's my birthday" line ties in to Max trying to get people's attention when he becomes Electro because he's spent so long isolated from other people, while also expressing his jealousy of Spider-Man, who he thinks is trying to make him look bad.

@maninfinehat don't get me wrong though, there are some stupid lines in the film, not every joke works, but if you get the chance it's worth seeing just so you can make up your own mind about it.

Watched the movie yesterday. It was ok. Didn't like the cheesy "jokes" of Peter Parker (but that's one of the things that makes him corny in the comics), also didn't care for the non-funny "funny" parts with Electro b4 he turns. Electro was good after transformation, Harry was good as both normal and GG, still did't like "The Rhino" after seeing him in the actual movie (nothing changed there).

I'd give it a 3 out of 5 maybe. Liked Electro, Green Goblin, and the "set up" for the Sinister Six (that was a good ending to the movie). Other than that, I think the 1st was better.

Maybe Peter will lose the corny jokes in the third movie (along with that crappy suit. So many good suits have been worn in the comics yet they like using his main one). Also Sony should think about maybe doing some sort of "Clone Saga" for the next Spidey. This way they could do a Scarlet Spider movie and be done with Peter Parker.

The best scenes outside of Electro and GG was both times when Spidey was swinging objects. Kept making me think of him in Marvel vs Capcom 2

I thought Electro looked great and made for some impressive visuals but overall I found his portrayal to be a bit too goofy. I talk about it in more detail in my spoiler free review: http://davecsimpson.wordpress.com/2014/04/19/the-amazing-spider-man-2-a-spoiler-free-review/
