SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Breaking Records Overseas In Presales; Beats NO TIME TO DIE In The UK In 24 Hours

Spider-Man: No Way Home has already topped Avengers: Endgame in terms of ticket presales in North America, but the movie is now breaking records overseas, and has even beaten No Time to Die in the UK...

We know Spider-Man: No Way Home has already broken presale records in the U.S. in terms of ticket sales, but word is now in from overseas courtesy of Deadline. According to the trade, the threequel set all-time records in a number of international markets, with plenty of ticketing websites crashing due to the sheer amount of demand (some fans were even told to stand in line at their local theater to secure tickets if they were unable to do so online).

The movie is easily beating Avengers: Endgame in most parts of the world, but its most impressive feat could be in Tom Holland's home country.

In The UK, Spider-Man: No Way Home has outsold Daniel Craig's latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die, by as much as three times in the space of 24 hours. That's one heck of an achievement, especially in the midst of a new strain of COVID-19 that's causing concerns across the globe.

It's clear that the next Spider-Man movie will break box office records, and it could potentially become the first blockbuster of the "pandemic era" to hit $1 billion worldwide. If things were a little more normal, then we could see the movie surpassing $2 billion given the sheer amount of excitement, and Sony is likely keeping everything crossed that No Way Home secures a China release soon.

Regardless, the blockbuster starts rolling out beginning December 15, so it's going to become harder for fans to avoid spoilers (especially after the world premiere on December 13 if the Eternals/Harry Styles situation is any indication). As always, you'll want to check back here for updates.

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.

Does this win the award for most secretive blockbuster movie in the modern era or what?

@JFerguson - I'd say somewhat, but how much better would it have been if we knew absolutely nothing of the returning villains, Spider-Men or Charlie Cox (Including not showing any of these things in the trailers) & experienced it all as it happened on screen.

Naive to believe nothing would get out in today's society with social media, but my god, imagine if a lot of this hadn't got out early & everything about it was all word of mouth after people viewing the film.

I think that both Infinity War and Endgame had a lot less revealed than No Way Home did in their trailers. But having said that, No Way Home hasn't been released yet so there could be a lot of massive surprises that haven't even been hinted at yet in the film. It's going to be a lot of fun watching it!

I'd be so curious what the numbers would be in a normal year after the theater run. I'm sure some crazy mathematicians will be able to figure it out.

Literally looked today at what had sold in my four local cinemas. Busiest showing was on Saturday at 8pm and they’ve only sold 21 tickets. As of right now me and my friends are the only ones going to the showing we’ve booked tickets for.

If this does Avengers numbers, will Marvel follow with more multiverse stuff?🤔 Like maybe Deadpool and other crossovers?

@YonnyLayna -
It's easily going to be the most profitable Phase 4 film, so I'd personally expect them to play more into fan service afterwards.

Really emphasizes the strength of Spider-man as a brand coupled with how little people cared for the other Phase 4 films. People would rather risk a new variant, restrictions and winter/cold season for Spider-man than see Black Widow, Shang Chi or Eternals in cinema.
