Spider-Man: No Way Home will finally pit the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Peter Parker against Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Green Goblin. Of course, this iteration of the villain hails from another reality, and we still don't know whether this world has its own Norman who might one day target the wall-crawler (many fans remain convinced Oscorp could be the new owners of Avengers Tower).
If that happens, then chances are we'll be reintroduced to Harry Osborn. James Franco and Dane DeHaan previously played Peter's best friend with mixed results, and their respective Green Goblins were extremely underwhelming. Whether Marvel Studios should revisit Harry's descent into madness is up for debate, but the movie's cast has does have an actor in mind to play the character.
Talking to The Associated Press, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon all endorsed Dune star Timothée Chalamet for the MCU's Harry Osborn.
"I think it would be good to bring him in as a [Friend of Spider-Man], and then he kind of becomes bad, and then he could be a villain," Holland said. "He'd be a good villain." His co-stars agreed, with Batalon joking Harry "would turn evil because we kicked him out of the gang." Zendaya, however, thinks MJ rejecting Harry's advances could be his villainous "origin story."
There's potential with Harry, especially if his issues with substance abuse came into play. That might be a little dark for the MCU based on how "Demon in a Bottle" was glossed over in Iron Man 2, but if the character does return to the big screen, then Chalamet wouldn't be a bad choice.
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
