Those alternate designs were even worse
zeon00 - 8/14/2019, 10:16 AM
@PantherKing - some of them was better than the current one we got

That Rhino design is so ugly.

Y'all should be ashamed for this right here...

In the MCU they can go full-on Goblin face via digital effects and show Norman is wearing one of these SHIELD masks:

so ironic that most all of the costume designs where HORRID but they gave us the best spider-man costume ... :/ so backwards
Chewtoy - 8/13/2019, 8:00 AM
@knocturnalzen10 - you think they would have picked the above Spider-man design with the webs radiating out from his belly button, given their track record with the rest of the characters.
knocturnalzen10 - 8/13/2019, 8:06 AM
@Chewtoy - hahahaha

ASM2? Talk about a random archive, but ok.

Personally, I still have a soft spot for the Amazing franchise, but I understand why people don't like it. Whatever, I still do.

DaHyro - 8/13/2019, 8:48 AM
@KWilly - I think the first one is a solid, mediocre movie that came out WAY too soon after the last series. If the Raimi movies didn’t exist, it would have been a lot more popular

The second one, while well acted and shot, is a total mess of a story. While I do have a soft spot for it too, you can’t deny how much of a disaster it was story wise. Remember how OsCorp was spying on Peter (shown in the trailers, never mentioned in the film)? Remember how they cut out all of MJ’s scenes? Remember how the entire thing was set up for a Sinister Six movie?

Sigh. It’s a shame. Honestly, I think Andrew was a great pick for Spidey but he, along with Webb and Raimi, got dicked over by Sony

OT: "[Disney] is unimpressed with “New Mutants,” an “X-Men” spinoff with a haunted-house vibe, and believes it has limited box office potential." - Variety

Also, sounds like they might [frick] over the new Taika film in the edit bay?
"The scathing takedown of Nazism may, however, prove a little too edgy for Disney brass accustomed to producing movies suitable for parents and kids. Searchlight has started to screen the film for its new parent company. Halfway through one recent viewing one executive grew audibly uncomfortable, worrying aloud that the material would alienate Disney fans. His unease may have been over the film’s cutting-edge satire, but it was also an expression of the culture clash taking place as the two studios embark on their new union."
Jeight8 - 8/13/2019, 8:05 AM
@tmp3 - bury this thing. It will only damage the x-brand further and keep the team away from the mcu. Recast anya taylor joy as magik, though. That was great casting.
KWilly - 8/13/2019, 8:05 AM
@tmp3 - FOX: "So you're gonna cancel New Mutants? But we worked so hard on it?"

Jeight8 - 8/13/2019, 8:07 AM
@KWilly - if its bad do you really want it release. Another x-movie flopping back to back?
tmp3 - 8/13/2019, 8:10 AM
@KWilly - Eh, I don't care about New Mutants, but if those dumb execs who felt "uneasy" over a Fox Searchlight film damaging their family friendly brand start [frick]ing over Taika's Jojo Rabbit in post, that's gonna be terrible.
Chewtoy - 8/13/2019, 8:13 AM
@tmp3 - I really doubt Disney would piss off Taika Waititi by editing his film against his will. The article already mentions them giving undesired Fox projects back to their creators to shop elsewhere... if they’re afraid to release it, I suspect that’s what they would do.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/13/2019, 8:05 AM
God, what a shit movie.
Dotanuki - 8/13/2019, 8:14 AM
This is the type of design that you get when the movie makers have no personal investment in the characters. Totally bland and generic sci-fi design. Green Goblin looks like a leftover from WETA's Lord of the Rings work.
Thing94 - 8/13/2019, 8:20 AM
I still like Amazing Spider-Man 2!

Haters Gonna Hate!
