Well I went to catch a matanee of the Amazing Spider-man 2!
Here are my Pros and Cons on the movie!
Pros: 1. The Untold Story was the best part of the movie. probably the best indepth Story in any Spider-man movie!
2. Peter and Gwen . They were the movie! The acting and chemistry between them was great!
3.Dane Dehaan, the best actor out of all of hem! Dane brought an intensity to the movie! Which made it more believable.
Cons: 1. The writing was terrible. It was elementary, I could not believe the dialogue. It was like they were spelling things out for you! it was worst than Goyer's! They made this movie for kids!
2. Spider-man didn't have enough jokes! And when he said them, they were'n funny! i like the Horse line when he was talking to the cop, but the "Your a God and you name is Sparkles!" Was not funny and it was rushed! Spidey had the equivalent of jokes that Tobey had in Spider-man 2 ! 1 or 2 to none! (Here's your change!!!) Heh. Heh. Ridiculous!
3.Jaime Foxx/Electro was by far the weakest villian in CBM History second to the Mandarin! Electro was mentally disturbed, but his story was rushed to get to what? no motive? A villian that just wants to be someone's friend? The Riddler in Batman and Robin was tougher than Electro! Electro gets aroused because Harry Osborn says he needs him? What is this Homo erotic stuff! Now Electro can do bad because he has friend now? What Spider-man villian you know does that? They made Electro weaker than i thought! Weaker than all of us imagined! Jaime just names himself Electro? I guess because it sounds cool. And who the hell is this Nazi Dr Kafka? I was waiting for him to say Hail Hydra! He was unexceptable and unnessarily cartoony! I thought to myself like, Is this a joke? The scene should have been all Electro being badass and intense! That scene should have been intense to show the true madness of Electro, but this stupid Doctor was overshadowing Electro in the scene with his stupid accent! It was ridiculous! Wasted opportunity! Dr Kafka Batman and Robined the movie for sure! He just should have been a regular doctor doing his job. That should have been Electro's time!
4. The Directing,Producing and Writing: First off I didn't like the last Star Trek movie it was goofy as far as dialogue and characters, in a Star Trek movie? But Kurtzman and Orci said they were Spider-man fans, so I felt they would get this right! I remeber in an interview that kurtzman said that he liked goofyiness in movies and that he didn't see anything wrong with it. He liked goofy characters. When I heard that interview I was like UH OH! Max Dillion was Goofy and Rhino was goofy, but I did like the Rhino's suit! But kurtzman and Orc'si comdey is not funny! Their comedy is more like Spaceballs kind of feel, not literally, but in that area and it's dated and childish. Now to the action! 2 action set pieces in a 2h 22min Spider-man movie? Really? And they are both 6 mintues a piece? Well 4 set pieces the beginning with Alexi and the last secene with the Rhino, but all were like 6 minutes? In a Superhero movie? Is my grandmither making this movie? In an Avengers era of superhero movies you do that? And you are trying to keep up with the Avengers? That's laughable! Some one needs to tell Avi Arad that he's not in the early 2000's where that stuff got a pass! it's a new era! With movies like Cap 2 and Avengers, there should be no superhero even remotely compared to Batman and Robin or Joel Schumacer. Lazy writing and lazy producing to keep the rights and putting all your efforts and strength in promoting, instead of making a great film.
And as for Marc Webb, he can director actors but he cannot director Superhero movies! The pacing and the cuts in the movie were like musical chairs, right when you think you have a seat and you are going to rest in a scene, it moves to another scene. And speaking of music! IT WAS IN EVERY SCENE!!! THEMUSIC KILLED THE TIME SQUARE SCENE!!! I WAS LIKE TURN IT OFF!!! LET THE SCENE SPEAK FOR ITSELF!!! ELECTRO'S THEME WAS TERRIBLE AN ANNOYING!!! I DIDN'T THINK THEY WERE GOING TO PLAY IT THAT MUCH!!! MARC WEBB ONLY KNOWS HOW TO DIRECT MUSIC VIDEOS AND IT SHOWS!!! AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE POWER PLANT FIGHT WITH THE MUSIC! WHEN SPIDEY SAID I HATE THAT SONG! I SAID ME TOO!!! IN THE THEATER! This movie should have been just about the Osborns and The untold story!Electro was not needed! Harry arc was more interesting as a whole than Electro's! Electro didn't even have a story! Ha! ha! This move just should have been a Hero vs villian movie that it then would have had more time with the action set pieces.
5. Gwen's death: Every body was saying Oh the third act is so intense! Well, what movie were they watching?! Yeah I guess compared to the whole entire movie! Ha!Ha!Ha! Yeah the movie is good because the finale is little bit better than the movie? Man you guys standards are low! Sony rather push the Sinister Six, then to delicately tell the Death of Gwen stacy arc? By having her die and Peter does not shed one tear after he holds her, where he is at the grave site TWICE!!! AND HE DOESN'T SHED A TEAR WHEN HE IS AROUND AUNT MAY AND CONTEMPLATING ABOUT HER AND HOLDING THE MASK? MARC WEBB YOU FAILED!!! SHED A TEAR PETER! YOU SHED A TEAR ABOUT YOUR PARENTS IN TASM 1 BUT NOT ABOUT GWEN YOUR TRUE LOVE?!! UNEXCEPTABLE! I trusted Marc webb to make this an emotional arc. the producers got in his ear and said no art house movies, no emo Peter, no crying. We want fun and to move on and forget about it! Let's get to the sinister six! Sony is all about money! No talent hacks!
In Conclusion: I know Sony knows about the bad reviews and if it keeps getting worse someone is going to get fired! Probably Avi Arad is the oldest Dog that needs to be put down! And the executive producers are going to get a lashing! Hopefully by the fans! But I feel that if they just kept the tone of Tasm 1 in this move, just with more of a bigger budget and blockbusters scope than it would have been a remarkable Spider-man movie! I liked Spide-man's natural delivery of his jokes in Tasm 1 then this movie. They should have kept that delivery in this movie. I am not onboard with this franchise anymore, after this I don't want to see part 3! Spider-man has turned into Wolverine now! Too many Hit and misses to get him right and it is taking entirely too long! I give up!
I give Amazing Spider-man 2 6/10
PS: I had a bet on this site that certain things would happen in this movie: Felicia Hardy, Adrian Toomes, Mary Jane, Norman/Green Goblin wakes up and he kills Gwen. I only needed one right to win the bet! I won the bet because Felicia Hardy was in the movie. But I wished I was right about my predictions, not to win the bet, but to make this movie actually be better. I am officially on Marvel/Disney side and will not stray away again! i didn't think i would be saying this but, I HOPE THE RIGHTS REVERT BACK TO MARVEL
