Adam Beach Discusses His Take On 'Slipknot' In SUICIDE SQUAD
Out of all the characters that make up Task Force X, the one we know the least about is undoubtedly Christopher Weiss, A.K.A Slipknot. In a new interview, Adam Beach (Skinwalkers, Arctic Air) gives us an idea of what we can expect from the master assassin in Suicide Squad...
Adam Beach's Slipknot has largely been absent from most of the promotion for David Ayer's Suicide Squad thus far, but now thanks to an interview with Rama Screen we get to find out quite a bit more about him.
During their chat, Beach gives us an insight into the Slipknot's role on the team, his skill set, and describes a pretty cool sounding move he uses to take down his opponents. The actor also hints that although this group of villains are the main characters, we won't necessarily wind up rooting for them.
"My version [of Slipknot] is basically a guy who's just pissed off to be there. He's an angry boy. But ya know, he's like everybody else; he is a hired mercenary, assassin, killer - so you know that paying the right money and he'll get the job done. And as long as I kept that nature about him - that he can, in any minute, hang you with his ropes or stab you in the back - he is as bad as the Joker and Deadshot and Harley Quinn. That's the beauty of it. We all filled the shoes of these villainous characters that are hired killers and now we're asked to go and save the day in some shape or some form... How do you contain that?!
If shit happens, I’m like the escape plan, I'll get everybody out of there. Everybody has their skills, my skill is the ropes. Give me a rope and I can fight with it... They were teaching me a move where if you try to throw a punch, I can use a rope to grab that punch, put the rope around your neck and just drop my weight and it snaps your neck. There's a lot of martial art skills you can use with the rope and it was pretty cool."
Many seem to think that Slipknot is doomed to be the first principal character to be killed off, but from the sounds of this he might just have a more significant role that anyone expects.
Suicide Squad also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. The movie is set to hit theaters next August.
