Believe it or not, it's been nearly five years since Suicide Squad hit theaters, and Jared Leto made headlines for what sounded like some fittingly insane behavior. It was reported that he gifted his castmates with everything from a used condom to anal beads and a pig carcass, and this proved to be another PR disaster for a film which ended up being mauled by critics.
Leto has never had much to say about this, but finally addressed at least some of those claims after sitting down with GQ to discuss some of his most iconic roles.
"I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat," the Oscar-winner stated. "That’s not true." Leto, a well-known Vegan, added that he actually gave the Harley Quinn actress a much kinder gift after cameras finished rolling. "I actually gave her...I found this place in Toronto that had great vegan cinnamon buns, and that was a very common thing."
Robbie actually confirmed in 2016 that Leto gave her a live rat that she kept as a pet. Viola Davis, who played Amanda Waller, also said, "[He sent] Margot Robbie a black rat, that was still alive in a box. She screamed, and then she kept it."
It's good that Leto has finally set the record straight ahead of his return as Joker in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but a shame he didn't clarify whether he really gave them those other "gifts."
