THE SUICIDE SQUAD: James Gunn Shares Shots Of David Dastmalchian In His "Extreme" Polka-Dot Man Makeup

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has taken to Twitter to share some BTS photos of David Dastmalchian in the freaky-looking prosthetics he donned for Abner Krill's "extreme Polka-Dot disease" scenes.

In the comics, Polka-Dot Man's colorful spots are actually tech-based weapons, but the character was given a rather freaky overhaul for his recent big-screen debut.

In The Suicide Squad, Abner Krill (David Dastmalchian) is revealed to be the son of a S.T.A.R. Labs scientist who exposed him and his siblings to an interdimensional virus in an attempt to turn them into superheroes. This resulted in Krill growing multicolored, glowing pustules all over his body, which he was then able to expel and use as highly-destructive projectiles.

In one early scene, Bloodsport (Idris Elba) gets a look at his Task Force X teammate pre-expulsion, and director James Gunn has now shared some BTS photos of Dastmalchian donning those Elephant Man-esque prosthetics for a makeup test.

SPOILERS

Unfortunately, the chances of us seeing Dastmalchian reprise the role are slim. Polky was one of the casualties of the battle of Corto Maltese, having been crushed by Starro the Conqueror after doing quite a bit of damage to the alien "invader" with his corrosive dots.

@n1ghtw1ng2832 - forreal tho. It made my whole body feel really uneasy the first time they showed him with those bumps during the night scene.

I was hoping for more of a “We are Groot” emotional moment where his death was concerned, but otherwise, he was a fun highlight. Would have liked to see him in action more, which is a credit to his character.

@breakUbatman - I saw both, I liked Candyman but there’s some weak spots. If I had to choose it would definitely be Shang-chi by quite a large margin

What a great example of an actor where at some point I saw him in so many things I had to go, "Who is this guy??"

It's funny, I remember seeing that part with him in The Dark Knight & thinking "huh, this random guy is doing a great job in this scene". Little did I know how many things he'd end up being in. His performance in The Suicide Squad was every bit as great as people are saying. He absolutely deserves all the success he's getting.
