The Academy Awards Noms Are In: Nothing For DEADPOOL, But SUICIDE SQUAD Is Now An Oscar Nominated Movie

After getting some attention from several other big awards bodies, we all felt Deadpool might be in with a slim chance of some Oscar love, but alas it wasn't to be. However, the likes of Doctor Strange and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story did pick up some technical nods, and Suicide Squad was nominated in the Best Hair and Makeup category.

Aside from that it was a fairly predictable affair (La La Land landing a total of 14 nominations) but some CBM faves such as Viggo Mortensen (Lord of The Rings), Ruth Negga (Preacher), Viola Davis (Suicide Squad) and Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage) got some well-deserved recognition. Denis Villeneuve's Arrival also had a good showing, but surprisingly there was no Best Actress nom for Amy Adams.

Have a read through the full list of nominees in all the major categories, and be sure to let us know what you think in the usual place:

Actually for the work done on Killer Croc, I could see Suicide getting nominated for the make up category. Also if they win they can put it up on the shelf with their worst screenplay razzie. Good for them! Because I love movies with great make-up and sh*t story!

@knocturnalzen10 - They are still only getting nominated in technical categories....that's not really taking them any more seriously than they have in the past.

@knocturnalzen10 - What would it be nominated for though? I loved the movie but it was never getting any acting nods, and let's be honest, Marvel movies never really excel from a cinematography/editing standpoint. MAYBE costumes/effects etc.
