Henry Cavill Talks The #SNYDERCUT And His Desire For A MAN OF STEEL Sequel

While promoting the highly-anticipated upcoming Netflix video game adaptation The Witcher, Henry Cavill shared his desire for a Man of Steel sequel that ignores Batman v Superman and Justice League.

There's been a ton of Superman/Henry Cavill chatter these last few weeks. Reports and rumors range from the character showing up in Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Black Adam movie to Star Wars: Episode IX helmer J.J. Abrams directing a new film installment.

While we await official word from WB, Henry Cavill is out promoting his upcoming Netflix video game adaptation, The Witcher. However, Cavill can't escape the Superman questions as he's asked about his stance on the #SnyderCut.

"I have not seen any #SnyderCut. I don't know if there's anything that exists that's a #SnyderCut. I'm sure there's footage out there that's probably been pieced together over the years, [and] while I'm always interested in seeing how stuff like that turns out, that is very much a chapter in my past. I would rather talk about what's going to happen in the future- the future of Superman and how I can express that character from the comics. Which ties in nicely to Man of Steel. I really liked that movie and I'd like to tell the story from where it was left at that point."

When pressed to expand on whether a Man of Steel sequel is actually in development, Cavill responded, "I can tell you nothing."

The Witcher will hit Netflix on December 20.

I believe in Henry Cavill.

I can't relate to a superman thats not relevant. He has to listen to Billie Elish, instagram, and make viral videos. He has to dance and represent the urban life like Shazam and Spiderman did in the newer iterations.

Henry Cavil is already off to a great start with instagramming so, why not?

@mastakilla39 - He's done as Superman, I believe.
Been hearing about David Corenswet, though.

@Battabing - @Battabing - The only legit casting based on Variety is Michael B Jordan. But he was reluctant to sign on permanently as there is no script. Apparently there are no big screen plans until after 2023 (AKA the expiration of Cavill's contract)

He didn't like Snyder's take on superman. Thats why he is the only actor who doesnt seem to be supporting it.

@ALF9001 - He straight up said he liked MoS. Though I guess people still had hope for Supes back then and BvS was when everyone realized where that was going...

@ALF9001 - He's the only one speaking the truth and saying it out loud without a fear of Snyder and his bots rage, the rest of the group are just delusional people.

@ALF9001 - Agree, I remember reading that he wasn't completely onboard with Snyder's Superman (not like he had a choice) but Snyder promised that in the long run his character will evolve into the "Man of Steel" everyone recognized. Its sad how all of that is just empty promises now.

It's crazy how Snyder planned on making 5 dark/gritty films (mos, bvs, jl pt1, jl pt2, & flashpoint) before giving us the Superman we want in mos2

@ALF9001 - I doubt that, I think it’s that he is on active talks with WB about what’s going to happen with the franchise and if he’s going to stay on and he’s trying not to rock the boat. Everyone else is either out like Affleck or already had their sequels greenlit so their support wouldn’t effect anything

@ALF9001 - Yeah, he and Whedon were simpatico regarding JL and Superman. I take it that's the Superman he'd like to continue playing.

@RegularPoochie - Not at all, I love Snyder's filmography and I stand by Henry 101%. Like he said, MoS could have led to a more hopeful and optimistic Superman. Even though I liked BvS, it went about it in a completely different direction.

I will ALWAYS defend MoS as this great starting point. And I also acknowledge that a ton of people didn't like BvS.

What's with all this Snydercut nonsense? The movie was horrible. Let it die peacefully.

If WB had any sense, they would hire Neil Gaiman to produce the next Superman movie. He understands and respects these characters a lot more than they do.

I've repeated this like a billion times, WB should just make another Superman movie with Cavill and the same actors that kind of ignored the previous movies without contradicting them, just don't mention that he died and resurrected and all that stuff, he is just Clark Kent working for the Daily Planet, Lois knows he is Superman, a new threat needs to be stopped, just hire a good writer and director and soft reboot it without getting rid of Cavill who is already well known as Superman, same thing was done with Wonder Woman and Aquaman and it worked.
