Over the past couple of months during interviews about his role as Todd Ingram in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, the star of 2006's Superman Returns has expressed his desire to repise the role of the DC comic book hero again and again.

He's clearly keen on donning the tights and cape but was quick to tell the interviewer it's a decision that's out of his hands. "I don't know, that's up in the air," the actor said when asked whether there's a chance he'll return as the Man of Steel in the upcoming reboot. "I'm sure we'll find out in the future - I certainly would love to return to my character but it's not within my power."

Routh was quick to praise the writer of the reboot and director of both Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and the currently untitled Batman 3. "I think he could bring a lot of reality and a lot of creativity. He's a fantastic director and has a lot of psychological thoughts. He's very intellectual in his films, and makes you think beyond what's just on the surface, a lot of undertones."

And what kind of Superman movie does he think Nolan will deliver? Well, it's the same thing that many of us have been hoping for after the not so brilliant take on the character by Bryan Singer: "It could be a very deep and action-packed Superman." Well said! Would you like to see him return to the role though? Share your thoughts in the usual place!
