RE: Smallville: Are You Kidding Me?

Contrary to popular belief now held due to Ed Gross's article, I believe Darkseid will take a physical form in the finale of Smallville, just not how you'd expect. Click the jump for details as well as to read my theory on Darkseid's appearance in the finale of Smallville.

Now, recently Ed Gross posted an article on this site criticizing the fact that we "won't" see Darkseid take a physical form in the Smallville finale and also the fact that we may not see the nuptials of Lois and Clark. Well, I'd like to disagree. I believe Darkseid WILL take a physical form in the finally, however, it's really 50/50 we'll see wedding for Lois and Clark.

First, I want to elaborate on my thoughts on the wedding of Lois and Clark. It's been noted that the show has teased at a wedding between Clark and Lois (excuse me. Lois and Clark) all season long. Now, many are asking, Smallville: Are you kidding me, due to comments made by the shows producers that it may not happen particularly Kelly Souders comment "At the end of the day, with everything that they're juggling in their lives, the question is whether or not they feel like getting married is really the most responsible thing." Now what does this mean exactly? I don't know but I think we shouldn't jump the gun on this one. This statement could mean anything. However, to say that it won't happen based on on statement is not the smartest move. Now in the the episode "Kent" we did see signs of Lois and Clark questioning there nuptials, feeding the notion of no wedding further. However, there have been reports to the contrary in recent months that extras from Smallville tweeted about a wedding taking place during one of the final episodes of Smallville. This could very well mean the wedding could still happen. I think we should all just wait and see how this unfolds instead jumping to conclusions. Plus, do we really want to see Clark marry Lois before he's even Superman? I say nay.

Next and perhaps the most important topic of discussion in relation to Smallville's final episodes is whether or not Darkseid will take a physical form to battle Clark, or Superman as its hoped he'll be at that point, in the show's series finale. After comments made by the shows producers such as this the one quoted in Ed Gross's article, and various reports to the contrary, many ,including myself at one point, believe Darkseid WILL not appear fully in the Smallville series finale. However, after watching the "Kent" episode of Smallville as well as to thinking back to the "Scion" and "Luthor" episodes of the series, which all featured Lionel Luthor and Clark Luthor of the alternate Smallville universe, I had somewhat of an epiphany of how Darkseid will take form in the Smallville finale: Clark Luthor will become his vessel.

This is the most logical way, and may likely be the way, Darkseid appears in the finale. If you remember back to the beginning of season 10, particularly episode 4, Supergirl, it was revealed that The Darkness, or Darkseid, sought to use Clark as his vessel to takeover the world. Now, this hasn't been touched upon in Smallville since this episode but it has pretty much been settled that Clark won't be his vessel. However, it does bring up a very interesting notion: who would be an alternative vessel. For a while, many believed this "vessel" could be Lex Luthor after Michael Rosenbaum was announced to guest star in the Smallville series finale while many other believed Darkseid will take his own form. But recent developments as well as season long developments could very well lead to Clark Luthor becoming Darkseid's "vessel". All season long, we've seen Clark deal with the alternate universe Lionel as well as his alternate universe self. While many can conclude that the arc for Clark Luthor ended in episode 17, "Kent" seeing as he was sent back to his universe to seek redemption for his actions there. However I don't think this will be the last we see of Clark Luthor. In episode 16, "Scion", we saw Lionel Luthor come face to face with Darkseid himself. I think this will lead to Clark Luthor becoming Darkseid's vessel.

Yeah man; and if that DID happen; I think it would be even more lame than if they had the wedding.

In fairness, this isn't really a refutation of what Ed meant, in my opinion.
He said he thinks we won't see Darkseid in a physical form, but he obviously meant Darkseid's OWN physical form.

It's very likely you're right about Lionel becoming a vessel, and if that does happen, it still means we won't see Darkseid himself as an actual physical being.

Or, Lionel Luthor and Darkseid could make a trade: If Darkseid brings Lex back to life, then Lionel gives Darkseid Clark Luthor as a sacrifice.

So you're saying Darkseid will possess Clark? That is [frick]ing lame.

I rather the guy not appear at all then to do the lame possessing crap.

Also...who gives a [frick] about the wedding? That is pointless, I'd rather have the angry New God appear in the physical form. [frick] this show.

I think this is way off the mark. Waaaay off. How can C.Luthor be the vessel if he and Darkseid are in different universes? Why would Darkseid have appeared at Lex's grave in front of Lionel? If he did use Clark Luthor as the vessel, what would be the purpose and how would they wrap it up?

I think the reason they said Darkseid does not exist in the same physical realm is because they want to use him as a spirit who has the power to bring Lex back, obviously with a magnified dark side.

Sounds stupid, but anything's possible at this point. Sick of all the "vessels" that have shown up thus far; Darkseid is THE most powerful villain Clark has / will face during the show; if he needs a vessel to show up in this universe, then the producers then exactly nothing is sacred in the Superman canon for these lame-@ss producers.

Clark Luthor should have become Bizarro, btw, if things worked out right. Too bad that was already done years ago. They should just leave that character alone.
