Apparently Surrogates isn’t just a smash-em-up sci-fi movie where Bruce Willis gets to play John McClane in the future. It actually has themes and, get this, commentary from the future about the present. In a sci-fi movie? No way! Well, that’s what the cast and crew want us to think as they promote their new film in a new featurette.

For those who don’t know, "Surrogates" is a sci-fi thriller about a world where people who from the comfort of their homes live their lives vicariously through robots. The movie is based on a graphic novel written by Robert Venditti. The movie supposedly has a lot to say about how technology is affecting our lives, how we lose out on personal connections, and such thanks to computers and cell phones. I’m just hoping Bruce Willis finds a way to say something like “yippee-ki-yay, mother cyborg.”

I think movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner and Solaris are sci-fi movies that have important cultural and humanistic themes to them. But, I see what you're saying. A lot of the movies don't.

Getting married is big business in China. Young couples are splashing out on their big day as never before.
While a generation ago, those tying the knot made do with a small Bonny Wedding Dresses function at a dimly lit backstreet restaurant, the 11.7 million couples who got married last year spent 450 billion yuan on much glitzier events, according to the Committee of Wedding Bridal Dress Service Industries of the China Association of Social Workers and Tsinghua University.
The benefit to the economy as a whole goes way beyond this with young Bridal Dress Gown couples buying and furnishing new marital homes, providing a total boost of 1.500 trillion yuan.
