We've been hearing rumors of a potential Tank Girl reboot for quite a while now, and it looks like we may finally have some movement on the project.

According to the character's co-creator Alan Martin, Margot Robbie's production company has optioned the rights to his creation with an eye to turning it into another big-screen adaptation - and he says it's already "several months into production."

If this is accurate, could we also see the Birds of Prey actress suit-up as Tank Girl? One could argue that Harley Quinn is quite similar to Rebecca Buck is many ways, but that doesn't necessarily mean Robbie wouldn't be interested.

Lori Petty previously played the character in an underrated 1995 adaptation from director by Rachel Talalay.

Dear god someone stop this woman! Don't touch Tank Girl...I beg you. That's a movie that doesn't need a reboot.

Cool but it can't beat the original. And I'm not saying that ironically. Maybe a I'm saying it a little bit. The Lori Petty version was so bad it's great. Watched that movie so many times back in the day.

So... will Harley Quinn be in this one too?

It's like the perfect property for a movie, or even better an animated show, every episode Frank and Co, going on crazy adventures, instant classic I tell you! You could even go live action and try something ala legion, crazy, creative, and a bit existential.

As for Love and Rockets, a movie could work, but if it's based on the first sci-fi run, anything after that would work more as a live action tv series, week to week real time drama.

Good for her. Tank Girl is much more cool and interesting than Harley.

I can't wait to find out what they do to make Rebecca Buck and crew less male gaze-y.

I'd welcome a reboot of Tank Girl. But the similarities are very much there between Tank Girl and Harley Quinn. Robbie might be tap dancing near typecasting.

What's going on now with posting pics? Has the style changed?

She certainly seems to have an aesthetic, I guess...

I thought Margot Robbie was trying to be a more serious actress...guess not!

Have at it if it means she tops [frick]ing up DC movies. She can take Christina Hodson with her.

I say go for it, because this means we'll see less Harley Quinn and friends movies for a little while.
