Mark Wahlberg Waiting On The Script For The Crow Remake!

Mark Wahlberg Waiting On The Script For The Crow Remake!

While promoting his upcoming film The Fighter with MTV, the actor reveals he is interested in the The Crow Remake but is waiting on the script before making up his mind.

"I'm interested in the director," Wahlberg told MTV News. "But there's no real script and nothing is set up, so..."

With intended director Stephen Norrington no longer involved with the project we can't be sure which director he is talking about. Has a new unnamed director taken over The Crow remake? Does Wahlberg still believe Norrington is involved? Who knows. The only facts we know are that the remake is happening and Wahlberg is at least interested in reading the script.

The Crow was a 1994 smash hit starring Brandon Lee as the deceased rock star who rises from the grave to avenge the murder of himself and his fiancee. The Crow would be Brandon Lee's last movie. Sadly the death of its lead actor did not stop the franchise with three more less then popular sequels each starring different actors.

So what do you fans of The Crow think? You know where to talk about it.

Why a remake?? Why not just do another story? Wasn't there a female crow in the series? I say make a movie of that? That way, it will be an excuse for everyone to start posting some hotties for the role on here. :)

I dig Marky-Mark, but not for Crow. I'm with, probably, the majority of the world in thinking that remaking "The Crow" is just a bad idea. As Darth Vader said, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

@yankeemanf ^yes lol... wtf?

it's a bad BAD idea imo... remake or reboot? or spinoff.

I can live with a spinoff, but remake wtf...

Who cares about the Crow reboot, he just confirmed he was going to be Nathan Drake for Uncharted (which would be a better film than a Crow reboot) and would make 3x as much in the box office. Uncharted news ftw. I don't know why you didn't mention Uncharted in the title when most of video he is talking about Uncharted and then the last 30 seconds he mentions the Crow lol. This should have been an Uncharted topic, not a Crow topic. And who gives a [frick] if you don't think video game news doesn't belong on here. You're probably an idiot anyway :P

Why not make another story like with the sequels, but with a good script, director, actors, etc. Someone mention Razor, that's a good idea imo, a movie about her or just something else but not a remake of a great movie.

Yes, it was just confirmed yesterday that he will not be playing the part. So what gives with this now?

People who are complaining about the reboot: please get over it. If Brandon Lee was to be honored, they SHOULDNT have ever made the SEQUELS to the 1st movie. That was a continuation. This is rebooting the franchise. It's a whole different ballpark, with new players and managers.

But you don't believe it's right to start over, just because Brandon died while playing his role as the Crow? That's like saying you never want to see the Joker in another Batman movie because Heath covered it and died young.

What if the next person who takes up, say, the role of Superman, suddenly died young during post production. Would that mean you never want to see another portrayal of Superman? I didn't think so.

Let the water flow under the bridge. Shit like this happens. After Brandon died, no continuation of the series should have been made. THAT was disrespecting him, just by continuing on. This is taking a new vision. It won't have anything to do with the original. That's respecting Brandon.
Nolan doesn't want Joker back in the next Batman. He's respecting his death. Sure, someone's most likely gonna take up the mantle of the Joker again in the future, but in a new vision of Batman movies, not in the same "Nolan verse."

IT'S OKAY

just don't let Wahlberg anywhere near this and it's ok.

This is the wrongest casting ever!
Even more epic wrongness than that guy playing Venom!
I'm not dissing Wahlberg.
He's just NOT The Crow!

It's like, you know, casting Halle Berry as Catwoman or something!
Wait, they did cast Berry as Catwoman, didn't they?
Oh well, it's Hollywood.
$hi+ happens.

Here's a question, what came first? This vid or his statement about NOT being the Crow that was posted yesterday?

RockNRollCC - You've got a point - the Crow IS a continuation, and I guess I woulldn't have such a problem with it if a. the first hadn't been such a perfectly encapsulated film and b. all the sequels hadn't felt like cheap knock-offs with terrible over-the-top acting! I don't know if you're old enough to remember the first 'Highlander' film, but it's kinda' like that - the first one was PERFECT! Everything else that came after that sucked @ss! Every failed attempt to duplicate the original magic only succeeds in tarnishing the first! James O'Barr masterpiece deserves better than that. Brandon Lee deserves better than that! STOP THE MADNESS!!!!
Shaman
Shaman - 11/24/2010, 12:10 PM
loganoneil- Good point. But i still have hope that if the first film was able to be so epic, then another one could too. And we as fans, deserve that. And IMHO, Norrington was the perfect choice for it. I can't stress enough how epic the first Blade film was and it's style could have perfectly fit with The Crow.

On another note, i downloaded the TPB for Power of Shazam. It was a very very good read! I can see why CM's a good character but only from that short series, i couldn't see how great he could be without adapting it to our day and age, in the same fashion as what J. Michael Strazinsky used with Superman Earth One. In fact, i wished he DIDN'T do Superman Earth One and left his brilliant remake thoughts for a character that in my eyes, needs it more like CM. And i would love nothing more than to tackle that revamp myself. But i wouldn't want to offend you in doing so. ;)

I'm glad you're beginning to see the limitless potential that Big Red has to offer. After decades of sideline/second-stringer work, he deserves a DECENT shot at the big-time! I've been toying with the idea of a revamp myself nad would be interested in hearing your perspective on the story arc. But in the end, what's the point? If the execs at DC won't let someone like Alex Ross near the property, what chance do guys like us have?
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2010, 5:04 AM
loganoneil- Yeah, about a snowball's chance in hell, really LOL I just figure that maybe Ross didn't have the story DC was looking for or maybe they already have plans for him but are waiting to see how the whole Superman trial will play out. IMO, they wouldn't have included him in a one shot Superman/CM animated short if they felt like never using him. Personally, i'm banking on them reserving the character for someone with a better idea, like JMS or anyone that could send in their own thoughts that might blow DC's mind entirely! You never know in the end ;)

I'd really love to know to what lengths a huge fan of the character like yourself would go to revamp and improve him. How far would you be willing to go with his costume, his nationality, his powers, his personality, hell even his origins could use a good polish in my book! So shoot me your extremes that you'd actually let slide. I'm hugely interested :))

For my tastes, i'm not too sure where to throw myself without offending anyone. But i always felt that the man should control lightning as well, kinda like Thor. And i remember people saying how black heroes sucked in DC. I don't know anyone that are Black Lightning fans that much, i figured it could be cool for a huge event to happen where sacrifices would need to be made and both CM and Black Lightning could merge together as a result. Not really give him both personalities but a brand new one that would go along the lines of both characters. And of course, he'd be a new being into this world so he'd need to figure out who he really is as an individual and how to deal with it. Earth One could be just a knock away for us, who knows? LOL

Shoot me an e-mail at: [email protected] and then i'll shoot you back an e-mail from my real e-mail i use LOL. I hardly use my myspace anymore so it might take a day or two for me to get back to you ;)

But let me know what you think of all this :))
