It seemed like a done deal anyway but until we hear something official in cases like that anything can happen. And there are those that wish something did on this one! But like it or not Patty Jenkins is bringing us Thor 2. There is no doubt she lacks experience but what we have seem from her has been very impressive, even if it wouldn't exactly seem to qualify her for such a big special effects driven film. Have Marvel earned the benefit of the doubt with their previous choices of director or do you think this is just too much of a risk? Vote below and lets see where you guys stand..

Delighted. Marvel haven't put a foot wrong yet and this shows they are thinking outside the box.

i haven't got a problem with it.

Im just a little worried about her lack of experience. But I have faith in her vision. Thumbs up

Awesome! I like Patty's work,
People forget that Branagh's resume wasn't that 'great' before Thor, all he really did was direct Frankenstein and Sleuth, which weren't that great movies. He's only made a name for himself through Thor, but he is a good director.

"I Dislike Women". Subtle, but hilarious

Kenneth had barley any comic book experience when he was chosen. She will do great :) Nice to see some women taking control in the comic book world. Girl power.

Ok lets not get carried away now, Branagh has directed a lot more than Frankenstein and Sleuth! His Shakespearean adaps have never been bettered, Othello being a damn masterpiece. Oh yeah and he also directed something else, what was it,.. THOR! And did a great job. I'm all for new blood and am cautiously optimistic about Jenkins but I wish ol KB had of stuck around to be honest.

Branagh directed and starred in 'Henry the 5th' which was brilliant, especially the speech to his troops.

Not too pleased about this news. It's not like Thor 2 is a pie baking or vacuuming contest.

That might be true Intruder but you can't call someone a "true film maker" after one movie either no matter how good it may have been. Experience counts for a lot too. Look at Richard Kelly. After Donnie Darko everyone though we had a new auteur on our hands..then look at the shit he spewed out. I'm not saying that's gonna happen with Jenkins of course but if someone were worried i'd see were they were coming from.

Yeah, Marvel wants to keep the winning streak going.
They probably had her in a number of meeting and interviews with various people involved with the project on a number of levels, and felt confident 'Thor 2' was in good hands with her. I'm sure Marvels got 'Greenlantern-phobia', and won't risk a major title with an iffy director.

I cant understand why someone would LOVE or HATE this choice. Shes done nothing prove shes able or not able to take over Thor 2.

Which is why I'm worried. We just have to wait and see. Thor is my all time favorite comic book movie so you can understand why people wouldnt be too confident in her.

One movie doesn't make her a good director.

You see? You see how men automatically revert to objectifying women? One says,"I'll bang her-!", the other says, " Yeah, I wouldn't kick her out of bed"...oh hold on a sec... " yeah, bring my beer here woman! You don't expect the man to get up out of his comfy chair while on- line, do you?!" All right ,as I was saying, lets focus on her directing skills. Please people!

@Intruder So, if there's a THOR 3, and she's replaced; will you talk shit about her and praise the new director? Just curious. Looks like you have a formula.

Branagh was a great choice, people who don't think he had the credentials never seen him direct or act in the Shakespeare, his best was hamlet, and that is one of the reasons they chose him for thor, He could really show a great asgard.

She is a wonderful choice. People on here can be so sexist, and they think it is cute and funny...it isn't. Just because she is a woman, does not mean anything...she is one hell of a director, and deserves respect...even if she is a woman.

If it was not for Thor no one would even know what a dutch angle was. He made that shit famous! One critic complained about them and then the internet "parrot effect " kicks in. Quote something you read as if it is an original idea you had.
Joss, i think, gives a nod to the use of it in this scene.
dutch angle Thor
Plus Arnold was named Dutch in the 1st Predator so that makes it the most badass angle right there!
