For the third time this year, it looks like Marvel Studios has a winner on their hands as the first reactions for Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok have poured online and they are incredibly positive all-around, with high praise that describes it as "a movie that's Waititi-ish as hell."

While all of the Chris Hemsworth-led cast is praised for their performances, Tessa Thompson gets special mention several times for stealing the show with her portrayal of Valkyrie. Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum, and Cate Blanchett also get singled out for adding an extra layer of fun to the upcoming blockbuster.

Mark Mothersbaugh's score receives high marks as well, with many describing it as the best soundtrack the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever delivered. Also, it sounds like there are several secret cameos implanted throughout the film, including a few from frequent Waititi collaborators. However, there's no word on any post-credits sequence.

Check out the first batch of reactions below:

In Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok," Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok - the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization - at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger - the Incredible Hulk!

Well, it seems like it's going to be a treat for the general audiences. Sounds like it out Guardians the Guardians. lol

@TheRationalNerd - I think Taika has sensibilities similar to Gunn so thats a something that's going to come up.

I think the difference may be in the fact that Thor was desperately in need of a shake up of sorts. In need of a jolt of energy. Just something different and new.

I've always imagined a Ragnarok film being something overtly dour and dense so I was generally surprised to see them hire a guy like Taika. I thought it was ballsy and risky.

Thor 2 had Marvel try the Game of Thrones thing, what everyone expected out of Thor. I think Taika's vision is a bit different from Guardians in that it feels a bit like something out of Journey into Mystery.

The anthological stories were primarily science fiction-fantasy. In concept, those were very kooky and strange tales that often veered into the psychedelic, trippy realm.

@BlackBeltJones - The entire cosmic aspect of this film compared to the other Thor films already had me expecting something different this go around. In some ways I just want to see a different feel of the cosmic universe aside from Gunn's take on the Guardians. His visuals and action sequences are promising, I will say that. The colors and costumes are interesting.

@BlackBeltJones - Well said, and honestly I've moved on from wanting Ragnarok to be this LotR/GoT inspired epic that's depressing and gritty and all that. Maybe some day we can get that but I love the look of what Taika has done for this movie. I also think the idea of what kind of Ragnarok movie people wanted might not have worked before Infinity War and Avengers 4 because all the possible deaths and loss will not feel as impacting after just watching another apocalypse movie. Having a fun but kickass Thor, a more serious Black Panther and then IW and Avengers 4 will make the change in tone hit audiences harder.

Idk if I'm making sense because I just woke up lmao

@TheRationalNerd - Seems like Gunn's take on the cosmic aspect of the MCU is sticking for now. For continuity sake, I get keeping everything aesthetically very "GOTG" to an extent in that regard. Like you, I do want to see the comics side of things evolve eventually. Something different over time. I think as the cosmic MCU grows, we'll see different takes hopefully. I think Taika was just trying to show some respect for Gunn, and universe cohesion, when it came to instilling some Guardians cosmic flare into this.

Captain Marvel will be a perfect opportunity to explore some new features of the MCU's outer space.

I do see some real respect for Kirby in Ragnarok though. I really adore that.

Generic joke, but it's relevant:

I say this mainly as a fan of Taika's work. Seriously, if you've seen any of his films and were worried for one second about this film, then I don't even know if I want to breathe the same air as you.
