CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER And THUNDERBOLTS Rumored Story Details Tease Big Plans For The Sentry

Some rumoured story details for Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts have been revealed, and The Sentry looks set to be a major player in the MCU moving forward. Check it out!

We first met Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier when she enlisted John Walker to be her U.S. Agent. Since then, the MCU's new Nick Fury has sent Yelena Belova to take down Hawkeye and attempted to get her hands on Wakanda's Vibranium.

In Thunderbolts, the CIA Director looks set to assemble her own squad of super soldiers, but that's not all she's been up to.

According to a new rumour doing the rounds on social media, the movie's big bad will be a villain created by Val: The Sentry! We're guessing he will be the ultimate super soldier, with something happening to make him one of the most powerful beings on Earth (and how better to take someone like The Sentry down than with a whole team of Captain America-like "heroes"?).

It seems that movie and Captain America: New World Order will have more in common than we first thought as it's said Val will also appear in that story.

There, Sam Wilson, the MCU's new Captain America, is supposedly looking to assemble a team of Avengers to take down President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, so we have a feeling the two movies will be very closely connected.

It's always hard to figure out what Marvel Studios has planned based on rumours alone, but we're expecting the two stories to inform each other, a welcome development after a Phase 4 that's primarily consisted of standalone adventures. We wouldn't even be surprised if Sharon Carter, a.k.a. Power Broker, is ultimately revealed to be on Val's payroll!

There's currently no word on who will play The Sentry, though Ryan Gosling remains a fan-favourite possibility. We're guessing it will be a big star, though whether the character will stick around beyond this movie is hard to say.

Captain America: New World Order is set to be released on May 3, 2024, while Thunderbolts follows on July 26, 2024.

@TheDoctor1225 - Yeah. The thing about leakers is people have this binary "totally reliable if something they say turns out to be true; full of bullshit if something they say turns out not to be true." The truth is blurrier than that, especially as Marvel changes their movies constantly.

The person who leaked this, MyTimeToShineHello, seems to work in or have a connection to Marvel's concept art and storyboard department. She called out Balder and Iron Monger as being Illuminati members, which didn't turn out to be true... until we saw storyboards about a week ago confirming yeah, at one point that was gonna be the Illuminati.

But we ALSO have to remember Marvel commissions concept art and just let's the artist draw what they want. For the cage fight scene in Shang Chi, the concept artist drew Deadpool vs. Proxima Midnight (who died twice in the MCU, lol). Was that ever the plan? No. But they hadn't decided yet who it would be so the characters are whatever as long as it shows how the cage and environment looks. Same with the Galactus, etc. pics from Love and Thunder. It doesn't mean Galactus was ever in the movie.

All of which to say that even if MyTimeToShineHello has legitimately seen Thunderbolts vs. Sentry art, it doesn't mean that will be the final product.

Reminds me of Suicide Squad when Harley Quinn power was a baseball bat against supernatural villains

@TheLobster - @WakandaTech -

Yes, it does sound like Suicide Squad BUT it also sounds like Sentry will be seriously de-powered compared to his comic counterpart so it won't be exactly the same as taking a bat to a powerful sorceress and her magical brother.

It sounds like Sentry will be a government created SUPER-DUPER super-soldier not an powerful Superman.

That's if the leaks are true.

@WakandaTech - I also wasn’t a fan of putting Harley in that fight because she’s unpowered and mostly untrained, but this team is made up of expert fighters/killers, several of whom are super soldiers, with I assume access to expensive government resources. This feels more on par with Batman fighting Superman.

Having Cavill show up would be the biggest middle finger in the history of cbm's lol, but I doubt he'll do it

So like, people are already pointing out the similarities to the first Suicide Squad with a team of mostly humans going up against a god-like threat, but let's not also forget that in Suicide Squad, they were Amanda Waller's team fighting a being Amanda Waller is responsible for, where as here they are Val's team fighting... a being... Val is responsible for... oh.
