In 1986, moviegoers were treated to a thrilling battle between the Autobots and Decepticons in The Transformers: The Movie. Now, for one night only, you can relive that excitement and nostalgia as Fathom Events and Hasbro Studios are bringing the classic animated feature film back to theaters for a special one-night-only event.

The Transformers: The Movie event will be held on Thursday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. local time. The movie has been remastered, restored from the original film elements, and transferred in HD. Additionally, the showing will include a special behind the making of the Bumblebee movie, which slated to arrive in theaters later this year. It's a fitting inclusion considering the new live-action spinoff is set in the year 1987.

There will also be a brand-new interview with singer-songwriter Stan Bush as well as recent performances of the classic theme songs "The Touch" and "Dare." All in all, this seems to be the perfect event for all Transformers fans, old and new.

The AUTOBOTS, led by the heroic OPTIMUS PRIME, prepare to make a daring attempt to retake their planet from the evil forces of MEGATRON and the DECEPTICONS. Unknown to both sides, a menacing force is heading their way – UNICRON. The only hope of stopping UNICRON lies within the Matrix of Leadership and the AUTOBOT who can rise up and use its power to light their darkest hour. Will the AUTOBOTS be able to save their native planet from destruction or will the DECEPTICONS reign supreme?

Tickets for The Transformers: The Movie event will go on sale on Friday, August 3, and will be available at the Fathom Events website. A complete list of participating theater locations - of which there are approximately 500 across the U.S. - will also be made available on the website. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures' new Bumblebee movie hits theaters December 21, 2018.

I wish theaters would do a 90s night. Where every film one night is all 90s classics like:

Jurassic Park
Toy Story
Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2
Independence Day

Would be cool to see the theater full of people going to see the different films all at the same start time.

How far the transformers films have fallen since then. Now the plot is childish and disjointed, with stupid quests for excalibur or some shit in england. They had an entire room full of writers brainstorm their future and they couldn't come up with a single good idea. Im glad the last film underperformed, it should send them the message that their increasingly retarded stories are finally beginning to turn off viewers. They have plenty of transformers to base the drama on instead of their stupid human leads, they should take advantage of them for some compelling drama. Such a waste.

@Presto76 - Okay look....I love Transformers G1 as much as the next guy. I was like 4 when it was still airing on tv and in a lot of ways it was the gateway that got me into comics and nerdy things. It is a large part of my childhood and I will always love it.

Having said that, this comment makes me laugh. It always does every time I see it. You do realize how ridiculously childish the oldschool Transformers show was, right? Sure, the original animated movie got very serious and was more adult themed than the show.

But what I find funny is that you specifically mention childish plots and even name Excalibur. Do you realize that there is an episode in G1 Transformers where they travel through time and literally meet King Arthur and help him fight battles? Keep in mind, this is during Season 2, and the animated movie takes place after Season 2 and before Season 3.

My point to all of this is that yes, the new movies suck.

But people tend to get blinded by nostalgia and think that because G1 had one adult oriented story that G1 is somehow this amazing series. It's really not lol. As a small child it was incredible. But by today's standards, and us being adults it would be unwatchable aside from wanting to have that nostalgia feeling.
