Michael Bay, Tyrese Gibson, and other crew members did a Q & A at Toy Fair 09 in New York City this week. In the Q & A, Bay and the others describe their thoughts about how the new film will match up against the first. When asked about how the new film evolves the mythology Bay responded:

"Yes, this film will satisfy all types of fans as I have included my trademark humor, more intimacy with the humans and robots, and Moms will think it is safe enough to bring the kids back out to the movies."

The rest of the Q & A can be seen at the source link below:

Okay the reason I put this up for everybody to see is because that quote scares the sh*t out of me. Those are exactly the words I DID NOT want to hear coming out of his mouth. His "trademark humor" sucks.

lets get optimus to "bonecrush" Bay!
The term i made called "bonecrushing" is where optimus would stab someone through the head starting from the chin going upward just as they were starting to gain excitement or appeal.
so bonecrush Bay!...after this movie. i've put too much excitement into this one to let him die by the blade now! :)

alten2345,

How do you think ROTF will be? You think Prime will die in the first 20 minutes, like the rumors say? Like Transformers 86 style.

Yes, this news is most disturbing.

how are u guys gonna say that his humor is bad? look at bad boys 1 and 2. i thought both movies were excellent. if its anything like 1 then ROTF should be 100x better

Bay's humor... eh. It's nothing that deters me, but it's certainly not a deal breaker either.

As for Optimus...

Hell, I was expecting Optimus to die in the first one.

I doubt he dies. If he does, the war(and the movie) would be over, Decepticons win. Megatron took out the autobot's second in command like he was nothing at all in the first movie. Starscream blew off Bumblebee's legs and whooped Ratchet and Ironhide together in about 2 seconds flat. In Michael Bay's universe Prime is the only one that can stand up to the stronger decepticons. If they do have him "die", he'll most likely be back before the end of the movie...

@Mattlask

In regards to Optimus dying I really have no idea at all. Usually I feel things out and know but this time not so much. If somebody put a gun to my head and told me to pick I'd probably say yes Optimus will die based on the title of the film. Will it happen in the first 20 minutes? Doubtful. How will it happen? With Bay's crappy "trademark humor" he'll probably have Devastator p*ss or jerk off on him and drown him:)

Disclaimer: Please for all of you that found the Bumblebee p*ssing scene funny please don't call for a lynch mob against me. That scene was a joke IMO. As was the character he p*ssed on which was the only gratifying thing about the p*issing. And I rarely blast movies, if at all, so just give me this one lol:)

That last comment leads into the first question you asked. After seeing this interview I'm not very optimistic. I hated the humor in the first one and thought they spent too much time developing the human characters when they should have been more concerned with the Transformers themselves. The first one was called "Transformers" correct, not "Humans and Transformers"?

In that interview Bay describes this movie as a coming of age story for Sam(Shia.) No offense but I could give less then two sh*ts about Sam's coming of age unless that coming of age involves Sam becoming the head of a Headmaster Autobot or something along those lines.

And as far as the "love story" between Shia and Megan, I could do without too but I understand why it's in there. I can see a sex scene or love story in the new Star Trek flick because Captain James T. Kirk has always been a pimp. He was banging green aliens on the TV show for gods sakes. So that makes sense to me. In Transformers not so much. Can it be in there? Sure. Should it be more than an ancillary thing? Nah. I can do without it. Megan Fox is still hot though:)

I know this opinion is unpopular and a lot of people think Bay hit a homerun with the first one but I completely disagree. I'm not saying it was a bad movie but they definitely dropped the ball in several ways IMO.

And to anybody who disagrees with me, please don't respond telling me how wrong I am and giving me a million reasons why I am wrong. I've seen it all a million times and I know your reasons and respect them. This is just one of those movies that some people love and some people don't. This isn't me b*tching just to open a b*tchfest on me and the topic. I was just answering Mattlasks question.

Wow that was long. My apologies.

Personally the most worrying part of this for me is "Moms will think it is safe enough to bring the kids back out to the movies". I'm not expecting some gore fest with a script written by Christian Bale on a bad day but this worries me. Once again a movie that should be made to be the best it can be sounds like it will be dumbed down for the masses. I hope I'm wrong, I really do!

alten2345, I see where you're coming from with the 1st film spending too much time on the humans. I don't fully agree with it but I can see your point. The only draw back of the 1st movie for me was that Prime got his ass handed to him a little too easily. He should be a true force to reckon with but the only time he kicked ass was the Bonecrusher scene, when it came to Megatron the handbag came out and he was scared of breaking a nail!

I've nothing against his humor and had some laughs with the first movie. I do agree that the sector 7 guy was too goofy to be taken serious for a top secret organization. I hate that. As well, I thought the movie should be more from the transformers point of view instead of that of the human characters, and transformers become more like alien invaders. However, the human characters I think allow us to identify more with the movie? Not that I needed that...

Furthermore, I just don't see the autobots winning anything if they're all disguised as sports cars and trucks and the decepticons are straight up military fire power. I mean hell. Prime always seemed like the biggest and best of the autobots but standing next to Megatron he looked like nothing. Especially compared to that fragment of Devastator in the RotF trailer. Funny that Bumblebee whipped Barricade, but Starscream womped Bumblebee, Ironhide and Rachet. The humans more or less account for BRAWL and Blackout being dropped. Personally, Blackout should have unleashed another EMP pulse.

Gah, frustrated with how they decided who would win/lose and how? Regardless though, the movies still look great and the robots are awesome on the bigscreen.
