Sons of Anarchy Creator Says THE WALKING DEAD Will Reach Its Downfall

In one of his recent videos on his website, SOA creator Kurt Sutter believes that the acclaimed show will begin to fall off after Seasons 4 and 5.

With The Walking Dead set to return next month, Sutter shares his opinion on why the show will tend to get stale once it reaches it's 4th and 5th season.

He claims that the show will become inconsistent with the absence of Glen Mazzara being a creative part of the show.

With the announcement of Mazzara leaving, Sutter took his thoughts to Twitter, stating: "Even zombies need consistency." He later continued on his website in a 12 minute video saying: “The show has a tremendous following; it has legs. They’re going to plug somebody else in there; they’ll plug some pour soul in there, or, my sense is that they won’t even hire a showrunner."

He goes on to say how this strategy will work, but it'll start to water down once season 4 hits, claiming without having a guy like Glen Mazzara, the show will eventually suffer in the end, meaning the show won't be good as it was.

He even criticized The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who thinks is a fantastic visual and graphic artist, but is clueless about TV. Eventually Kirkman would go to Twitter to send his thoughts as well: “@sutterink is brilliant and Sons is my favorite show on TV. Still, it’s upsetting to see him ranting about things he knows nothing about.”

Sutter confesses at the end of the video that The Walking Dead is none of his business and that he supports his fellow showrunners and artists, but saying this should be a wake up call for AMC. What do you guys think? Leave your thoughts in the main place.

@LEVITIKUZ Me too, hopefully Del Toro has time on his schedule to do so.

Sons of Anarchy is a FANTASTIC show. It hasn't faltered at all and it's going into it's sixth season. I kind of trust Kurt's opinion in that regard.

However, I do hope that doesn't happen with The Walking Dead.

This does come off as jealous that the walking dead is probably one of the top 3 most watched tv shows and his is not. Not saying anything bad about SOA because I've heard great things but its doesnt get the ratings or exposure that the walking dead, breaking bad or game of thrones do.

@DrHorrible The recent season was brutal, bunch of twists and turns I didn't expect, can't wait for the sixth season.

I like SOA as much as the next guy, but this just seems kind of douche-y on Sutters part.

@DexterMorgan75 I love both SOA and The Walking Dead, but I like SOA a little better.

@SpideyGuy94 You are completely wrong.

The average number of viewers (in millions) for SOA is twice what The Walking Dead is doing. SOA has consistently passed more than 12 million viewers (average) over it's past 5 seasons, with Season 4 averaging over 15 million viewers. The numbers aren't even out and I can tell you that Season 5 probably surpassed that.

The Walking Dead, on the other hand, only averaged about 5-6 millions viewers for its first two seasons. The numbers aren't out for Season 3, obviously because it's not done yet, but I bet the numbers increased though, but not to the levels of SOA.

In short, no matter what the media says, SOA has more viewers than The Walking Dead.

Like I said above, I like both shows, but I like SOA a little better.

Come on, that's not jealousy, Sutter is showing support to his buddy Mazzara (they worked together on The Shield).

Walking Dead already has its stories as a base to take and do what they will with so I dunno, he could be right, but as long as they keep the tone of season 3 it should carry on being fantastic. Here's to hoping anyways.

Walking dead got boring by the 2nd season, soa is still going strong, when you think the drama is ending a whole new batch comes back to haunt the club. I think it's actually more brutal and gory than walking dead as well. So many great kills and a lot more depth

@jessepostal - it slowed down in series 2 for sure, but by the last 2 episodes and in season 3, it has definitely picked up again.

@DrHorrible, The Walking Dead is the currently the highest rated show on American television. Period. Even higher rated than network television.

It currently averages 10.5 million viewers per episode, while Sons of Anarchy averages about 4.5 million viewers.

Both shows are very popular and successful, but Sons of Anarchy is nowhere near as successful as The Walking Dead. It certainly doesn't have twice as many average viewers. It's actually less than half.

@tazmaniak I was talking about average number of viewers per season TOTAL.

SOA is great. Never seen The Walking Dead. But I agree, Sutter can come off kinda douchey every now and then.

SOA is a good show, but the last season saved the shitty 2 we had before. They write it like its going to get cancelled at any time. A show is only as good as its writers. As long as they can keep writing and have some freedom. we're good. but rick's baby has to die, or this show WILL go with it.
