Fans of AMC's The Walking Dead got thrown a curveball last night when it was revealed that Carl Grimes had been bitten by a walker. Actor Chandler Riggs and showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed that Carl's time on the show will end in the mid-season premiere on February 25.

As one of the last few original stars of the show, Carl's exit is certainly a surprise. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Riggs said that Carl's death was just as shocking to him, but that he will have a fitting end to his story. "I didn't expect for Carl to ever get killed off. But it serves a good purpose in the story. There's still a little more left in Carl's story — in episode nine [the midseason premiere in 2018] — and that impacts Rick, Michonne and everyone. Although Carl's story is coming to an end it's not over yet."

Check out the shocking scene below, along with a promo for when the show returns in February.

COMIC SPOILER
COMIC SPOILER

They just [frick]ed up the plot after the timejump. Who is going to take his place? Daryl? What a stupid decision to kill the character.

The show will have a timejump next season (I suppose) and Carl is a kid... just recast the role!

The comic just reached a great moment with this last chapter with Negan and the tv show is getting worse and worse. I'm so pissed off.
