It was recently confirmed that The Walking Dead will continue its tenth season next year with an additional six episodes coming to AMC. Little is known about them at this stage, but it appears as if we can look forward to at least one episode putting the spotlight on Negan's origin story.

ComicBook.com reveals that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's real-life wife, Hilarie Burton, will have a guest role in the show as it begins to wind down over the next couple of years. She'll be playing Lucille, the woman Negan named his iconic barbed wire covered baseball bat after.

In the comics, Lucille was battling cancer before the start of the zombie apocalypse, and Negan was having an affair (which she was aware of). He called that off to be at her side, and dedicated his life to Lucille in her final months. However, on her deathbed, she transformed into one of the undead almost at the exact same time the zombie virus started spreading across the world.

Before joining the cast of The Walking Dead, Burton made appearances in One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy. News about the actress being spotted on set was first reported by Crooked Llama

Are you excited to explore Negan's origin story?

I still watch but must admit that since so many of the original characters have disappeared into the night, the show isn't what it once was.
