The second spin-off of The Walking Dead, titled World Beyond, aired in 2020, following Fear the Walking Dead's footstepsWhile the series was met with a mixed reception, with some fans refusing to watch it and others being pleasantly surprised with the story, it is set to premiere a second season later this year.

What sets World Beyond apart from the other two shows in the growing Walking Dead universe is that the protagonists are younger characters who have only known life after the apocalypse.

We recently spoke with Catherine Taber, who portrays the character of Mrs. Plaskett in the series. As we chatted about the show's plot, the actress made comparisons to what the kids are going through in World Beyond to what young children are experiencing with today's quarantine situation.

Listen to Taber speak exclusively with us using the podcast player below.

"World Beyond was beyond exciting; I'm a huge SciFi fan. I love The Walking Dead. I didn't know much about the show when I worked on it, but it was an amazing experience. I love how Hal plays my son, and it's such a great show. I wasn't watching a lot of stuff, actually; during the quarantine, I know many people have been bingeing; I've been the opposite, but I was watching that because I knew I was coming up, and I just wanted to be up to date. And I got really excited because I got so into the show. I love the characters.

It's a different way of looking at the apocalypse, and it's the after and these kids, they have grown up, and that's all they know. And again, that's even an intriguing thing right now, when you think about what's happening right now, there's going to be kids that like, this is their normal. It's fascinating to look at it from that perspective, but the young actors on that show are just so great and everyone involved. Again, I feel super blessed to say, now I'm a part of that franchise too, and I'm not dead. So..."

For those who enjoyed what Taber has to say, we have also included more of our chats with the actress below.

As a walking dead myself, I’m sure I’ll watch this eventually, taking my time catching up. It’s not as fun as it was years ago. A few less groups before the Saviors, and it would’ve been on point. Didnt like Fear, til Morgan came around. This sounds worse than that.

@TheWalkingCuban - I have them all on my hard drive. Have for a couple of months. I just can't muster the interest.

@inkniron - I know what you mean. I didn’t really look for fear, it was suggested on Hulu and I said why not, after they stopped showing it on Netflix at the end of season two, didn’t know what else was going on or anything. Went to head and watched the next three seasons. I don’t know what season it’s actually on, don’t really care, I’ll watch it when I watch it
