The Walking Dead will never be the same again after season nine because not only is Andrew Lincoln leaving the series but so too is Lauren Cohan. Both will appear for at least eight episodes and in a new interview the latter has explained that her exit has come as a result of her feeling too "comfortable" in the role. "Eight years is a really long time to be in those emotional depths," the actress explained.
"[It’s] really fun for me because I never thought about drama as much when I started this career and I always assumed I’d do like light fare," she added making it clear she's ready for new challenges.
Here's where that spoiler comes in, though. Cohan went on to say that she considers the opportunity to return to The Walking Dead "a gift," adding: "There’s a chance for me to still explore the Maggie character and it’s going to be fun to see if that can be done." This obviously points to the character surviving, something which leaves us with a lot of big questions about how her exit will be handled.
Will Maggie and Rick walk off into the sunset rather than dying at the hands (well, teeth) of walkers? In the case of the former, that certainly seems like one possibility. Share your thoughts down below.
