Could this be the last time we ever see Rick Grimes on a poster for The Walking Dead?

It's been confirmed that Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the long-running zombie survival drama after this upcoming season, and AMC has debuted some key art which bathes the former lawman in ominous red.

A sign that Rick's destined for a bloody end, perhaps? There is always the possibility that he rides off into the sunset, but happy endings are few and far between on this show.

Check out the poster below along with a batch of strangely serene character banners and a lengthy new synopsis.

Last season brought the culmination of “All Out War,” which pitted Rick Grimes and his group of survivors against the Saviors and their cunning leader, Negan. With Negan’s life in his hands, Rick had a character-defining choice in front of him. By making the unilateral decision to spare Negan, Rick upheld the values his late son, Carl, championed in order to build for the future, but created conflict within his group. Now, we see our survivors a year and a half after the end of the war, rebuilding civilization under Rick’s steadfast leadership. It is a time of relative peace among the communities as they work together, looking to the past to forge the future, but the world they knew is rapidly changing as man-made structures continue to degrade, and nature takes over, changing the landscape and creating new challenges for our survivors. As time passes, the communities confront unexpected obstacles, danger, and of course, walkers, but nothing quite prepares them for the formidable force they are about to encounter, which threatens the very idea of civilization that our survivors have worked so hard to build.

From what I've seen this season looks pretty good they seem to be finnaly getting to the meat of the story but it's taken them way to long. This will probably be the last season now that Rick is gone unless it's a really really good season.

I like how his whole body is covered in a red light alluding to his death while his face isn’t.

Why? Why did they kill Carl? Why can't they keep Maggie? I understand Andrew Lincoln's desire to spend more time with his family, but why did it have to be during the Whisperer War? The Whisperers are my favorite villains in "The Walking Dead" and some of my favorite villains in general, but now I barely care. I like the poster. It reminds me of the Compendium graphic novel covers, but other than that, I just don't feel the enthusiasm I used to, for this show.

This show lost its edge when it added so many supporting characters and expected us to care enough to watch entire episodes that did nothing to move the overall plot forward.

The show has progressed past the point in the graphic novel where I stopped reading, so maybe it's staying true to the source material, but most of their conflicts with other survivors bore me. It treads into some pretty generic Syfy channel territory during some of those stories. I much more prefer the man vs. zombie situations and how they get creative to make that fresh.

Never missed an episode of TWD from season 1-6. Watched the Season 7 premiere and haven't tuned in since...thank God for that lol. This show has definitely run its course.

@YoloSwaggins812 - that's the same time I jumped off the bandwagon as well. I've continued reading the weekly spoilers but I refuse to waste one more minute of my life watching any of this crap.
