THE WALKING DEAD: Tonight's Episode, "One More," Featured An Easter Egg Involving Morgan's Dead Son Duane

Tonight's episode of The Walking Dead may have been centered around Gabriel and Aaron, but eagle-eyed fans of the show and the comics noticed a shout-out to a character who died way back in the first season of the show.

Morgan Jones's dead son, Duane Jones, received an unexpected reference in the 19th episode of Season 10.

In the image below, you can see that on the table which Father Gabriel is sitting and playing cards sits a bottle of bourbon. Look closely and you'll notice that the name on the label of the bottle is actually an easter egg.

Taking a glance at the above image, you can tell that the label clearly reads 'Duane Jones Bourbon'. With Morgan now the longest-running character in the series, being the first survivor to find Rick and also the connective tissue between the main series and spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, this is obviously a reference to his long-dead son.

Duane died at the hands of his own infected mother after Morgan failed to kill her, leading him down the dark path he took before meeting Eastman. So he is a huge part of Morgan's backstory and essentially what gave him the initial push to begin his fleshed-out and multiple season spanning story arc.

You can watch a clip of next week's episode, Splinter, below.

New episodes of The Walking Dead air every Sunday on AMC. In the meantime, zombie fanatics can get their fix listening to our Army of the Dead chat with Joe Fidler (The Punisher, The Suicide Squad) below!

Tonight's "Talking Dead" episode pointed out that the Duane Jones reference was a call back to the name of the lead
character in the original "Night of the Living Dead" film, not Morgan's son.

It was just a homage.
