The "Buffy" comic books have pretty much written the book on how to move a successful television franchise to comic book form, something that has become more and more common, the new "Smallville Season 11" being a prime example.
The "Buffy" comics have been very successful, going through Season 8 and moving to 9 and incorporating a number of successful miniseries for supporting characters, as well as ongoing titles for Angel (albeit from a different publisher for a time).
Dark Horse recently announced that miniseries for fan favorite characters Willow and Spike will hit comic book stores later this year.
Spike #1 will be released first, coming out August 22nd. The first issue will be written by Victor Gischler and drawn by Paul Lee, however it is not known if they will continue on with the series, which will purportedly follow Spike dealing with Demons as a result of a trip out of Earth.
With the Publishing of the "Spike" title, all of the "Buffyverse" characters are now exclusively published by Dark Horse comics, as both "Angel" and "Spike" along with the characters most closely associated with them, were published by IDW.
Willow #1, on the other hand, will follow a couple months later on November 1st and be written by Jeff Parker and drawn by Brian Ching. The story will see Willow on an adventure in an attempt to recover her magic.
